Hunting & Fishing Queenstown — Local services in South Island

Visited the shop last week and spoke to a lovely young guy who admitted he knew more about fishing than BBQs but proved to be more knowledgeable on the BBQs than I was after several hours of research. He recommended the 650 ironwood but suggested stock maybe limited sure enough only the display was available so I put down a deposit to secure it. I received a friendly phone call this week to let me know a new boxed unit was available which I greatfully took as it's a gift and he assured me it would be ready for collection. On collection day the staff welcomed me warmly and quickly retrieved the BBQ, being cheeky asked if they might sort me a deal if I grabbed some accessories and pallets as well. The manager was retrieved and he was kind enough to make me feel very well looked after as a local. I've lived in Queenstown since 2016 and am a born and breed Kiwi whos travelled alot, these guys in Queenstown Hunting and Fishing provide some of the best knowledgeable customer service...

My local go to favourite... have spent literally thousands of $$ there these last 8 plus years..... A large store for Queenstown - Huge range of product... The staff service here is mostly exceptional and they always approach which is great.... They also in my own experience have a deep knowledge of the various areas... by professionally grabbing the particualy staff member who actually KNOWS what they are talking about...... Its a premium priced store chain.... and very rarely have store discounts and even less so brand name discounts..... but the knowledge the team has is not easily found elsewhere...... Most shop assistants in modern times make very little effort to really get to know their products these days..... its like talking to a concrete wall.... 5 stars Hunting ans fishing...

Went in today to get a few things but decided to loop around the store to see if we needed anything extra for gifts, when we barely made it through the door before we were stared at by staff the whole time, and not subtle either. Full blown staring as if we were going to steal the whole shop apparently. Caught staff on the phone looking like they were messaging each other to make sure everyone was made aware of us. Apparently spending a few hundred dollars a few days before wasn't enough to be apart of the VIP white shoppers who were left alone.

Don't bother shopping here if you're not white when you walk in and dressed up like you have money to spend. What a shame and disappointment. I'll make sure everyone I know doesn't shop here. Retrain or rehire new staff as bad news...
