Me and my girlfriend walked into the restaurant not knowing that they still had another 1 hour or so till it was opened for service. It was still early and they had just started prepping the kitchen so we didn’t wanna bother them and started walking away. But just as we were doing that, a very friendly elderly couple (assuming they were the owners) came up to us and offered to served us. We tried denying at first as we felt bad but they kept insisting and were too friendly and wholesome that we eventually gave in. Long story short, all the food came out fast, fresh and super delicious! Definitely the best tempura dishes we’ve ever tried before. We ordered more than usual too so we eventually had to takeaway some of the leftovers and the elderly lady was so nice and didn’t charge us a single penny for two takeaway containers. We especially appreciated it too because there was a sign saying takeaway containers weren’t free of charge. The whole time there they greeted us with the biggest smiles and it just felt so warm and comfortable. Me and my girlfriend were both very happy and satisfied. Definitely the best Japanese restaurant we’ve ever been to. Very affordable and delicious food. Very friendly and wholesome owners (again assuming they were). 10/10 would...
Read moreThe restaurant is located inside the Crown Plaza lobby on Albert Street. It is very easy to miss even though it also connects to the Atrium on Elliot. The place isn't very big but does have quite a few tables. Their menu is focused on tempura over rice, ten don, but they also have other Japanese items like curry and soba. Most of the items are under $20 with a few of the special ones being a bit over. I went with the Mega tempura bowl which cost $30. It was quite large and could probably feed two. It had a range of seafood and lots of vegetable tempura over rice with their tasty sauce drizzled all over. The tempura was quite crispy, particularly the seaweed. I quite liked the tempura egg too. They also had pickles by the bar and the bamboo shoot and cucumber one was really tasty. It was a really nice place to stop for really tasty tempura.
Edit: Tried the special set with tempura, eel and sukiyaki and it...
Read moreHad dinner here with my colleague on her recommendation. Location is a bit awkward especially with all the road works on Albert Street. It is basically parallel to the Crowne Plaza reception and is accessible via the elevators in the Elliot Street Atrium. Not a very large space but there are a couple of tables in the restaurant and then a few more tables in the atrium of the hotel. I ordered takoyaki and the tempura donburi with sukiyaki beef. My favourite was the takoyaki and the tempura. The beef didn't taste as fresh to me or maybe it wasn't hot enough. I'll be going back for the takoyaki and vegetable tempura for sure. Will try the rest of the menu too. Order and pay first then your meal will be delivered to your table if...
