EDIT; just replying to whoever wrote back from the Chamate team.. I wasn’t asking for free food or anything as I still ended up paying nearly $100 for my meal, I realised my mistake as soon as the food was bought out and asked the server immediately as my daughter is allergic to eggs! I am such a regular customer and you would think the manager lady/server would recognise us by now and at least feel a bit of sympathy as it was an honest mistake. Trying to save on $27 on this night resulted in losing a regular customer who would spend $100 every week. It doesn’t matter anymore as there’s pathetic service given every time we are there and it’s by the same lady who looks like she’s forced to work there! Also the toilets did not look like it’s being professionally rebuilt or anything! Yes there was a sign there but one toilet door was locked and the other was broken. And the toilets don’t look like they are cleaned professionally either! Both Male and Female toilets looked disgusting!! Also maybe a staff member should go every hour to check if the washrooms are clean too so we don’t have to see shit on toilet paper lying on the floor and we have to go back to eating!! Maybe instead of replying you should look into all the things I pointed out and get ur service better and the place more cleaned up! 🤮

I’m not gonna lie, this place used to be so good but the quality of the food and service has really gone down. Let’s not talk about the washroom. Today happened to be one of those days where their toilets were broken too so had to share the male toilets and it was absolutely filthy. I’m literally gagging while writing this review. If you want me to give u a picture of what I saw in the female toilets than imagine walking in and finding the whole toilet on the floor with used toilet paper and human waste on the floor. Obviously after that I couldn’t even eat properly. Also I forgot to write no eggs in my daughters fried rice which was an honest mistake and to which I would think they would make another one without eggs for my little one but the server said I will have to buy another one as she will have to throw this one out and it will be a waste. Mind you I have worked in restaurants and if someone happens to order for their child and have made a mistake we do offer to make another one. So I basically bought another one coz hey the daughters gotta eat too!! Anyways I am never ever coming back here again and honestly if u love to eat here good on ya but there’s so much more cleaner and better places than this. Also they should really learn some good customer service but it seems like a place which just wants to make money and it’s all about the money! Sorry but you just lost a good...

I have tried this restaurant with my wife as it had comparably good reviews, by oh lord was the experience underwhelming.

The, let's call it "service" felt like I walked into a stranger's living room, annoying them with my mere presence. Neither did I get an explanation of dishes I asked for, nor was the lady behind the counter willing to say a single word to me when I popped up at the counter for payment. Serving the dishes, she did not even look up from her phone, let our dishes sit at the counter between the kitchen and the guest room for a solid 10 minutes after the chef rang the bell because she was so distracted by her phone. She rearranged and cleaned our table while we were still eating there. Very unpleasant.

Now that you got a picture of the poor quality of our customer experience, let's cover the food.

The dumplings were okay, but very soggy and overcooked. The water boiled fish with chilli oil was a disappointment. The fish was very poor quality and the sauce was filled to the brim with roughly chopped sechuan pepper. So much in fact, you were not able to eat a bite of sprouts or fish without biting on one, numbing your tongue. however, if you'd expect the chilli oil to be spice, you would be surprised by how it is not at all. The duck was the worst of our entire order. They served us a drum, sliced like you would do with a breast piece. The consequence: the hollow bone shattered and splintered all across the meat, making it almost impossible to eat without hurting yourself or spitting bone shards.

The only aspect that lighted up the experience were the drinks. Chamate offers some creative lemonades, which taste quite well.

Altogether, this was the worst dining experience I can remember regarding food and "service". I strongly recommend avoiding this place and look for a better option, as the CBD has a multitude of much better...

I have never actually complained about an establishment in my life and I have never been one to take the time to write a review, but my recent dining experience at this establishment was the most shocking and disrespectful experience I’ve ever had. From start to finish, it was a nightmare I wouldn't wish upon anyone.

Nearly every item in my order was wrong, and the few things that were correct were so poorly made to the point where they had to be binned. The "cucumber salad" that I had ordered was swimming in was tasted like diluted feet water and looked as if it had been already pre-chewed and spat back into the container – soggy, flavorless, and utterly revolting.

Everything else that I received was simply not my order or even close to what I ordered, regardless of this, the main issue is yet to be described. When I called to politely address the issue, I was met with the most unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful behavior from a staff member named Patrick Zhen. Instead of even letting me finish my sentance, he had the audacity to yell at me and say it’s not his problem and then say the restaurant is too busy right now and hang up mid-convo. I tried to call back but he wouldn’t pick up so I was left with no choice but to drive to the restaurant which was only 5 minutes away from where I was. Upon walking in only 5 mins after our call, I discovered the restaurant was completely empty and he lied about being “too busy” to resolve the issue.

I tried to return the food that was incorrectly given to me and was met with more yelling and disrespectful behaviour.

Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place like the plague. I don’t know how they’re even still a functioning business. Terrible food, abysmal service, if Google reviews would let me rate it with ZERO stars I...
