Tragic hotel, There is no information where is the entrance, it was difficult to find as most shutters were closed, from outside it looks like hotel is closed. Staff at reception is very rude, does not help with luggage carrying (they don't have a lift) and first what we heard was an unfriendly request to close the door behind us. What a poor treatment! Then it went even better and the first information they asked for was payment or they refused to check in. We negotiated and checked the room first, 1st floor no elevator and guy just looking at you and not helping with the luggage. The room was the cheapest (small without window) while we booked a far better and far more expensive one, only after discussion with the translator (cause reception play fool and doesn't understand a word in English) we received the correctly booked room. We requested breakfast in a box for the next morning, they agreed and in the morning we found out we won't get it as another guy in reception didn't prepare anything and ignored us and told us he didn't know anything. Seriously? You knew we had a trip, if you didn't confirm we can have a breakfast box we would prepare ourselves for not being hungry till lunch that day!! Everything in this hotel stinks: towels, sheets, bathroom, even reception guys. For hot water we need to wait till 5 a.m. Luggage is stored in an open room in the reception where everyone can enter, nowhere safe despite they promised to keep it in the safe luggage room which they showed us...

Read morethis place was an unbelievable deal. it came on the recommendation of our cab driver after we arrived from Nazca. we paid a measly $30 a night for a monstrous room with comfortable beds, hd tv, and a nice bathroom. also had a desk and chairs which was nice to set my laptop on. what really shined at La Casona was the service. literally everyone who worked their was EXTREMELY friendly and would help you with anything you needed. the 3rd shift guy (i forgot his name) was particularly awesome. breakfast, although simple, is delicious and included in your room. any budget travelers looking for a comfy place with good service and is close to the city center should look no further. Arequipa is a wonderful city and this is a great spot to make your home base. they also helped us set up a trip to the Cañon del Colca through a reputable tour service. everything highly...
