Excellent location and traditional atmosphere -13.51528°, -71.97538° Hostal Amaru Inca is located in the charming, quieter and more authentic San Blas neighbourhood, known for its artistic atmosphere, cobbled streets and proximity to Plaza de Armas (about a 7-minute walk downhill) and Plaza San Blas (about 2-minute walk uphill). Given the altitude, approximately 3,400 meters, the location in San Blas means you will have to walk uphill for a bit to reach the hostal, which itself has no lift and can be a problem for guests with mobility problems or heavy luggage. The hostal has a nice, traditional and cosy atmosphere, highlighting the beautiful courtyards, Andean decoration, and comfortable common areas. Despite being in a popular area, the hostal is relatively quiet and peaceful. In April 2025, our room 209 (2F) was at the back courtyard of the hostal with a comfortable double bed. It was clean and maintained with hot shower. Wi-Fi reception in the room was reliable and free. The amenities in the room are basic. Breakfast was tasty and sufficient, with options including fresh juice, eggs, bread and fruit. Hostal Amaru Inca is highly recommended for its excellent location in the San Blas neighbourhood and its charming traditional atmosphere.

We stayed at Amaru Inca during our honeymoon trip to Peru, and it was a fantastic experience. The room was spacious with a lovely view overlooking Cusco, and the colonial-style decor added a charming touch to our stay. We also loved the peaceful patio, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The hotel offered tea 24/7, and the breakfast was nice and fresh every morning. A thoughtful gesture we appreciated was when they prepared breakfast to go on the day we were leaving. The staff was very accommodating, and there were no issues with luggage storage, making our travels smooth. The location is another big plus—just a short walk to Plaza de Armas, which was super convenient. The only downside was that it could get a bit loud at times, but overall, it didn’t take away from our wonderful experience.

I stayed here twice, before and after my trip to Machupicchu. Initially I got a cute small room with a bit of a view and the bathroom, therefor I asked to rebook the same room the second time. I insisted on it, but unfortunately although they said ok, on my Return they gave me another room and said that the next day, I’ll change but once again they gave me a different one. It was very unpleasant the whole experience for something that should have been super easy. Good breakfast (also to go for the early trips), heating at night in the rooms, nice courtyards and great location.

The hotel is a cute style, clean and our room was pretty nice. But the customer service is honestly terrible. First, the checkout is 10AM. In my opinion, that is ridiculously early. We asked if we could checkout just 30 mins later for a fee and were told NO. We needed laundry done and gave it to the concierge. We came the next day to pick it up and were told that it would be two hours later than promised so we had nothing to wear to dinner. They had our laundry for approximately 30 hours before giving it back. They also would only accept cash for this despite having a credit card machine. The WiFi service is terrible in the rooms. Slow and constantly disconnects. When we were leaving for a tour, one concierge consistently harrassed us for our room number. We didn't feel comfortable giving it to him knowing we were leaving for the day. They don't even supply do not disturb signs. Lastly, there were ants ALL OVER THE ROOM. On the second floor. In the shower. In the sink. On the walls. Everywhere. Gross! Would not stay here again and would...
