Visited in August 2024. Perú. Cusco. We visited this establishment for breakfast, which meant we selected from their brunch menu rather than the main offerings. Tucked away in the historical center of Cusco, this charming little restaurant occupies a beautiful colonial building. Despite its modest size, the two-story venue features high ceilings and an inviting design.
Food: Since our visit was during breakfast and brunch, we indulged primarily in European dishes. We ordered a burger that, while well-crafted, exemplifies the challenge of finding the perfect burger: one that boasts a juicy patty free of gristle, complemented by quality sauces, a soft brioche bun, and fresh vegetables. This burger was indeed flavorful and satisfying, although the patty could have benefited from a touch more juiciness. Nonetheless, the overall composition delighted us.
We also tried a rösti potato cake filled with cheese and trout, which was absolutely fantastic; the crispy potatoes combined with fresh fish made for a delightful pairing. Additionally, we enjoyed the Eggs Benedict and a yogurt dessert with fruits, both of which showcased high-quality ingredients with remarkable taste. Overall, every dish we sampled reflected a commitment to quality and flavor.
Service: The service was impeccable; the staff spoke English and promptly accommodated our request to cancel a dish that hadn’t yet been prepared. They were also very willing to assist with any inquiries we had.
Conclusion: I highly recommend this restaurant. Although we limited ourselves to the breakfast menu, the exceptional quality of the dishes we experienced leads me to believe that the main offerings would be equally commendable. This eatery is perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family, featuring a simple yet...
Read moreWhile it’s a beautiful restaurant and most of the staff were kind and polite, my server was exceptionally rude. First offense—he initially tried to serve the “gringo” guest that was seated after me first, until the guest indicated he should take my order first. Second offense—I asked a simple question about an item on the menu and he responded loudly and with hostility manner, as though I was idiot. Then he mumbled incoherently, irritated for whatever reason and never answered the questioned. Now I’ll admit, there is a language barrier, but I can understand basic Spanish if someone speaks clearly and intentionally. Finally, when I finished my food, he shoved a desert menu in my face—which I didn’t ask for—and when I said I wasn’t interested in ordering anything else he just brought me the bill—which I didn’t ask for. I ignored it. Then a few minutes later he brought the machine for me to pay—which I also didn’t ask for. Crazy since one typically has to chase a waiter down for the bill, this one was shoving down my throat. I hadn’t even been in the restaurant for 30 minutes, and it wasn’t even at half capacity, so there was absolutely no reason to rush me out. If I’ve paid for my meal, I’ll sit there as long as I want to, just as all the other paying customers did. I don’t know if it was his first day of work, or if he thinks he’s above serving black people (which would be incredibly sad and pathetic mindset as a brown person) but the encounter left a bad taste in my mouth. I was very shocked to receive such service given that the person who initially seated me was very kind and welcoming. The food is good, hopefully you’ll have a...
Read moreWe had a wonderful dinner at this warm and inviting restaurant. The atmosphere was cozy, with tasteful decor and a relaxed vibe that made us feel welcome right away.
The food was excellent. We started with the short ribs empanadas, which were crispy, flavorful, and a perfect way to begin the meal. The cheese balls were also delicious — crispy on the outside, melty inside. The ceviche was super fresh and well-balanced, full of citrus and spice.
For mains, we had the lomo saltado, a classic done right: tender beef, well-seasoned, with perfectly cooked vegetables and fries. We also tried the papardelle con ragú de hongos — a pasta dish with a rich mushroom sauce that was both hearty and elegant. A great choice even if you're not vegetarian.
The Peruvian wines on the menu were a nice touch — we tried a red that paired beautifully with the meal.
Service was excellent throughout. A big thanks to Edy, who was friendly, spoke very good English, and made sure we had everything we needed. His attentiveness really added to our experience.
In short, this is a great place to enjoy modern Peruvian cuisine in a comfortable setting. Highly recommended if you're in the area and want a memorable meal with...
