Three star hotel? What a joke.
This hotel was booked through my travel agency. Nightmare from start to finish. The first night, the front desk guard unlocked my door and entered my room at 12:15am waking me from sleep and obviously frightened by someone in the room in the middle of the night. They realized their error and left without apologizing, left the door unlocked - I walked into the hallway in undergarments to see who entered and saw the front desk person disappear around the corner holding the master key. When I confronted administration the next day they said it was a “mixup” and admitted to entering but then insinuated I need to lock my door to prevent further problems. The employee had the master key in his hand - just insane to fault me for their mistake and the door was locked. Was told admin would follow up with me, they never did.
Room was freezing and the heater on the wall is incredibly loud - it’s impossible to sleep with it running making it totally useless. 8°C in Cusco in the morning? Same temp in your room. Told admin on my second day, “we will tell maintenance” and they never fixed the issue. Bathroom smells of sewage fumes, they try to cover up with highly perfumed cleaning chemicals and leave the window open. Peeling paint, scuffed walls, leaned against a wall and it flexed - it’s just a piece of Sheetrock with no support behind it. Long black hairs found on bed linens. The list goes on.
Breakfast: totally a joke. Options are: fruit, cereal, eggs, olives and bread, that’s it. All cereal is stale and chewy. Coffee “extract” is added to hot water making it tepid, I’ve had better gas station coffee. Bread is stale and low quality, when asked to toast they burn the whole thing.
General ambiance: loud music some nights coming from next door as noted in other reviews. Staircase uneven. Seven different elevation changes on the same floor to travel from staircase to bathroom in my room, it’s an old building but incredibly hodgepodge. No wifi in the rooms, despite having 4 WiFi networks none of them work from the room.
In summary, there are so many other options in Cusco, don’t waste...
Read moreThere are a lot of options in historic Cusco, this one fit the bill for our wants and needs. Location is excellent, minutes from the Plaza amid quaint San Blas. We stayed here both before and after our Inca Trail trek, leaving bags safely in storage each time. Our room was first floor at the back and very quiet. Everything was clean and functioned well; the shower was superb. There is hot water out for tea all day and evening. The breakfast was extensive and included eggs if you asked. The front desk was always helpful, given my limited Spanish. We sent laundry out via them and while I came up missing a pair of socks, it was returned clean and promptly. I even used the courtyard one last time after returning from Puno and two hours before my flight left for Lima, to repack and hang out. The 80s soundtrack does get old in that time frame. Third floor terrace was a nice respite, wifi worked in our room off and on. Most reliable in...
Read moreMy friends and I booked two rooms here. One was in the lower level with beautiful view of the city and the other higher level with balcony overlooking the street. Breakfast was so good, not sure why someone complained about it. It is far superior to breakfast in the USA at hotels. The price is shockingly good. Bed and rooms super comfy with everything needed. Tea is offered 24 hours a day, I loved this so much!!! Staff was wonderful very helpful especially Rodrigo, he took good care of us. There is a spa in the building which was absolutely amazing after our trek. 10/10 recommend this hotel and will be back. Location is fantastic. The whole building is magical, natural lighting, plants everywhere and even a terrace overlooking the city. ...
