We chose Hospadje Inca after seeing the great reviews on Trip Advisor.||||My experience was mixed. ||||Pros||- Excellent value at 50 soles per night for 2 people with private bathroom||- good location, 10 minute downhill walk to the Plaza de Armes||- room was spacious and clean (but very basic)||- beds were warm with sufficient blankets||- great view of Cusco from the hostel ||||Cons||- Service level. Unlike many of the others who gave good reviews on Trip Advisor, we were not assisted by the owner. All our dealings were through a young man who may have been the owners son. He was rather surly and didn't appear too helpful (language could have been a problem as he did not speak English and we only spoke basic Spanish). We had to ask for towels, one night when we got back late, he was asleep and didn't hear the doorbell so we waited 20 minutes outside until he woke up and let us in, he didn't show us how to operate the hot water.||||Considerations/things to be aware of||- hot water for the shower is heated via the shower head, so the water comes out in very small stream||- We stayed in 2 different rooms and in the first room, the toilet had no seat. The second room was much better and had a toilet seat||- rooms have no heating and got quite cold||- wifi very slow and can't be accessed from the upstairs rooms. After 10pm the kitchen (where wifi signal is the best) is shut. So if you want to use wifi then, and you cannot get the signal from your room, you have to sit outside the kitchen (in the cold). We came back after the Inca trail and got a different room downstairs and close to the kitchen so we were able to get wifi. This was important to us as we were organizing a lot of our trip on the co and needed wifi...
Read moreVery unique place in the heart of San Blas in Cusco. It's a steep 5 min walk from the Plaza to get there, but you'll not be disappointed by the view you get over the city from the garden. They have some fruit trees you're welcome to use and a handful of ducks and bunnys. |Our room was the matrimonial in the gardenarea. Very comfy bed and quiet at night so that we didn't care much to walk up the house to use the shared bathroom (40S total). They also have dorm rooms and privates with ensuite bathroom for 10 S more in the main building. The heart of the place is the spacious, warm and well equipped kitchen, were you also get a common bred and jam breakfast in the morning (they have a panini Toaster tho, so you could make tasty sandwiches). The owner might seem a little grumpy most of the time, but he mostly just sits outside or sleeps in the kitchen. Sr. Eloy who's actually in charge is very friendly and helpful. All in all, Hospedaje Inka was the cheapest place we stayed during our time in Cusco but also got the best value in our opinion so we ended up staying there twice. It's not a party hostel at all, but you'll find good sleep and amazing views close to the...
