Comfortable beds, good powerful hot showers and good wifi (although doesnt work upstairs) Staff.... Mickey on reception is good, the rest just hang around the place as if they were guests and arent that helpful |And now for the not so good things - the kitchen looks like a health hazard, dirty, untidy, everything is broken. The cooker... well lets just say i wont put my food in there!|Breakfast is the worst ive had in whole of Peru. Bread butter and jam. But the bread is stale most days and is inedible. They have a toast machine but that has never been cleaned. They put cups out for tea/coffee that have snapped off handles. Why not buy new ones that guests can use? |Its raining regularly now so i didnt get to use the garden much but it looks ok, different seating options but unfortunately no llama like previous reviews said!! :(|Travellers with a social life should note... they close reception at (officially) 11.30pm but more like 10pm. After this time they lock the door and there os NOONE to let you back in!! Its dangerous. The street is dark and secluded, i went out for drinks and returned at 1am. I was banging on the door 20 minutes until another guest woke up and helped me.|On the flip side when you are trying to sleep, people ring the doorbell all night and early hours of the morning which wakes the guests up. They really need to review their night procedure. I believe a key is available of you know you will be out late but they dont tell you this on check in and os also no good if you are out of town and decide to stay out for a few drinks. Its unsafe and very dangerous to leave people on the street at 1am!!||Location is good, although up a lot of steps but that is for the whole of San Blas not just this place. Plenty of cafes around and just a few minutes walk to the Plaza de Armas.|Overall, disappointed. Money needs to be spent to improve this place and bring up to standard of...
Read moreThis is a lovely, quaint and quiet hostel. I originally wanted to stay for two nights, stayed for six.||I had a wonderful time with the staff and volunteers. A real bonus for me was that it was the first hostel in my travels were it's really bilingual. It's not just everyone speaking in English, which is great as I'm learning Spanish.||||The lounge has a cosy fireplace at night time and normally there is a great atmosphere of everyone sitting around the fire and watching t.v||||Wifi is excellent.||||One night they did a traditional Peruvian meal which was a great price of 10 soles. The food was phenomenal, so tasty! And there was so much of it.||||10% of there profits goes to the charity that they run. Helping the less fortunate children in the area and they have a heap of volunteers helping out for such a great cause. ||||Breakfast is on the thin side, however for the whole price of the place it really doesn't matter. Plus you get all the tea you can drink throughout the day with many different favours. Which will make any Englishmans dreams come true.||||Kitchen, from what I hear it used to be filthy, but they've made some great changes into buying new things to cook with.||||Garden area is great for catching some sunshine.||||This hostel has some real character. It's an excellent price for those on a budget.||||I had a lovely time and would gladly return. Thanks for...
Read moreI booked here as part of the volunteering project but i wish i stayed elsewhere.|The beds were comfortable but windows in the bedrooms were old and gaps around them so there was a lot of noise from outside, it was as if the windows were open! The guy in the house across the street plays his violin (badly!) at 3am every day (not the hostels fault) so be prepared for that. |The cleaner comes into your room super early and is not quiet. She will throw anything away thats in her path! I told her so many times to leave ny bottles as i refill them but every day she took them from my bed and my shelf and threw them away. She also threw away a weeks worth of food from the fridge because she fancied a tidy up!|The kitchen was pretty minging. Everything is broken or dirty. The cooker was caked in grease and a breeding ground for germs.|Wifi was good downstairs but didnt work in bedroom. Mickey was a good receptionist, very helpful so a refreshing change from the rest.|Breakfast... possibly the worst i have eaten (or not eaten as was the case most days!) Bread was so hard it was inedible. Butter was so cheap it was like spreading oil onto your toast. Jam was tipped into a big bowl for people to spoon out. Exceot people got crumbs and butter in it and it was just placed uncovered in the fridge ready for the next day!|I cant recommend it sorry.. i really didnt enjoy...
