20 soles entry fee for tourists. It was overall ok.
About 75% of the exhibits have an English translation, the rest you can get the gist of it you have basic Spanish skills or if you use Google lens. Despite being called the Inca museum it does have a few small sections dedicated to pre Inca artifacts, as well as the Spanish conquest of the incas.
Overall if you have 1 or 2 hours to kill this is worth a visit but not an absolute must do. It's a bit dated with what feels like too much empty space. I also agree with another review that it could perhaps be reorganised a bit to be a bit more cohesive in the way things are laid out.
Lots of pottery, ceramics, tools and rocks on show. A lot of exhibits that are not physically present have a laminated picture, but these could do with updating to 2024 standards as they are a bit faded/pixelated.
The main attraction I suppose would be the mummies, of which there are only 4 of them I believe, all in a single exhibit. Unless I missed it there was no information at all on where they were found or how they were preserved etc which was a bit disappointing! This was the part I was most looking forward to!
My personal fave ended up being the cute jade figures personally.
There are multiple free toilets on site that were in ok condition. A gift shop at the end...
Read moreThe museum shows mosty pottery from the inca times. If that can interest you for over an hour, this museum might be for you. Otherwise there is nothing to see here. There is no continues thread with the few historic "exhibitions" and most is very basic information. For the second half there is no English translation, witch is odd because the first half is translated and obviously with google translate so it shouldn't be lots of work to do that for the second half as well. An only spanish museum in Peru would be fine if they wouldn't charge non natives double the price (20 soles/5 dollars/5 euros by the time I visited). Other then that everything is in a really bad state. It looks like the exhibition was made 20 years ago and then noone put a hand on it again to even do the slightest repairs (which again is not okay for the price).
Better spend your time and money somewhere else. There are far better museums in...
Read moreThe Museo Inka in Cusco completely exceeded my expectations. It’s a beautifully curated museum that offers a deep and respectful look into the rich history of the Inca civilization. The layout is intuitive, the artifacts are remarkable, and the explanations are clear and informative (with English translations throughout, which was a huge plus).
The absolute highlight for me was the display of Inca mummies—truly awe-inspiring. To see them preserved with such care and reverence gave me chills. It’s a powerful reminder of the Inca people’s connection to their ancestors and their deeply spiritual view of life and death. I left with a much deeper appreciation for their culture and legacy.
If you're in Cusco, this museum is a must-visit. It’s a quiet gem that gives context to everything you'll see in the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Highly...
