This three-star hotel has a fabulous location. It is right around the corner from the best part of the malecón, the pathway running right along the edge of town with beautiful views out to the lagoon and river area. It’s right where there are three restaurants and a bar. It’s also just a block from Plaza de Armes, so it’s convenient for catching all kinds of transportation if you want to head out to the port or whatever. I had an inside room because I sleep better with them and it was cleaned and scrubbed really well every morning. The included hot breakfast was fresh and excellent. Bianca at the counter was especially helpful (and spoke very good English) and the gentleman in the evening was especially kind. There was no hot water when I was there because of the street construction that it been going on for six months and will be going on for probably another year so the owner was nice enough to gave me a partial refund (Note that there are no hotels or gyms around where you can pay a day pass of some kind to have access to hot showers, but it is so hot and humid there is that even though I would’ve liked a little warm water it wasn’t terrible and was was mostly refreshing.) The only drawbacks beside the water was the TV signal was not very good and the Internet is very slow and hit and miss. I do not have much luck uploading the photos I needed to for my work and ended up going down to the virtual library, where it was excellent. I don’t think this problem is unique to this hotel however, as I stayed in another hotel and it was the same issue. The cell coverage in the area is only 3G and that was also...

I had some conflicting schedules with my stay in the avatar lodge(another excellent option in Iquitos) and the management very quickly moved my stay the way I can enjoy the jungle. The room was clean and the free breakfast was ok. It's one small block from the cathedral square ( main). A reconstruction is going on the street in front of the hostel so cars are not allowed to go to the hotel but they can leave you on the streets near. The walk is short. My taxi driver helped me with the luggage. The free WiFi...
Read moreI loved my two stays at Hostal Macambo. The staff were so warm and welcoming - they felt like friends by the time I left. The restaurant staff went out of their way to accommodate my diet which I really appreciated. The room was quiet, comfortable with great air conditioning and a wonderful hot shower. It was impeccably cleaned every day. I was able to leave some luggage behind while I went into the jungle which was super helpful. I can't say enough good things about this place - stay here - you...
