Blue House Backpacker Hostel — Hotel in Lima Metropolitan Area

The Blue House has people sleeping on couches in the common room and coming and going all night. Everyone talks loudly with no regard of anyone trying to sleep. ||I flew in from Australia so I had been travelling for a long time and just wanted a good sleep. ||I booked a room to myself with a private bathroom. ||I arrived around 11pm and no one was sure which room was mine. There was a sign saying you cant rent a towel for $1 but they didn't have any but said maybe in the morning so I decided to just sleep and shower in the morning. The bed sheets were made up of several different sheets and the pillows smelt old and possibly not clean. There was a big hole in my door which I had to stuff with a sock so no one could see in. There was a cotton bud stick and bottle top on the floor so no doubt the room hadn't been cleaned. ||All night long people were walking up and down the hall and having loud conversations. The doorbell would ring and the dog would bark as more people arrived asking for somewhere to sleep. This was continuous and didn't stop till about 4.30am. I had difficulty sleeping as I lay on top of the bed and listened to the rats in the roof. At 7.30am the noise started again as everyone got up.||It was a horrible experience and the place is over loaded with people sleeping all over the place. Needless to say I got out of there as...

I was a solo female traveler in Peru for a month, and Bluehouse became my home away from home. I was nervous being on my own at times, but Quique looked out for me, and treated me like a daughter. He made sure to recommend me where to go, how to get there, and would check on me. He even threw me a going away cookout with friends, and I cried the night I had to leave because I felt so welcomed and loved! Miraflores is a wonderful neighborhood, and I met great friends at Bluehouse who I still keep in contact with. I fondly tell stories of my trip to Peru, and how Bluehouse became my home and family. I was recomended this Hostel by the Australian embassy after I had been there all day organizing paperwork, carrying all my luggage around Lima, I just needed a place to put my bags down and try to forget about how stressfull the last two days had been.||Quique was so helpful and reasonable, he showed me the way to various banks and offices I needed to get to around town. ||The atmostphere of the Hostel is quite and instantly relaxing, exactly what you need after walking around the intense streets of Lima the whole day. ||Although the place is quite, the amenities, clubs and restaurants of Miraflores are right at the doorstep and never far away.||Every time I return to Lima I will be sure to stay at Blue House...
