I would vote this as the most ridiculously priced accommodation I've ever stayed in during my travels (almost 70 countries). Unfortunately we got stuck in El Nido due to our expedition being cancelled so had little option but to stay here. At first, I thought they might be price gauging to take advantage of the lack of rooms but to be fair this room was discounted from the usual price that month (worrying!). The room is fine, it's comfortable enough, the AC works, it's the usual shower over the toilet, warm enough but low pressure. The room is extremely noisy, it's located right next to a residential area, who like to play guitar/karaoke late into the evening and then the dogs/cockerels pick up where they left off around 4am (no complaints, that's absolutely their right to do so, they live there and we are just guests passing through). It also smells quite bad on the road by the hotel, as there are overflowing drains/sewers nearby (which is unfortunately a problem with El Nido town infrastructure beyond everyone's control and no doubt exacerbated by tourists including me). This is all fine for us, we have been backpacking in the Philippines for 7 weeks, staying in budget accommodation in local areas, so we are very used to it, we put our ear plugs in and got on with it. The point that must be made is about the price charged by this hotel v what they are able to offer. If you are on your holiday or are assuming you will be getting something good due to the price you are paying (almost Western Europe prices); you will be very disappointed. To sum up the owner's approach, we were told on arrival that breakfast was included in the room price and the time to come for it. In the morning though, we were told by the guy running the kitchen it was a mistake and the owner (who wasn't around to explain it) had told them to tell us we weren't allowed it and if we wanted it; we would have to pay. Fortunately we didn't need to waste anymore money and paid for a delicious breakfast somewhere else in town. That approach is all you need to know about the place and whoever is running it. Anyway... make sure you book El Nido accommodation in advance and you can avoid places like this. We took one on the chin so you don't have to. Highly recommend to stay in Caalan Beach anyway, quieter and only a short walk to the town. We stayed in two different accomodations there which were more than 50 percent cheaper than here, one with breakfast included and they were possibly twice as nice as this one. Whilst we appreciate El Nido is a pricier destination than other parts of the Philippines, the other accomodation we stayed in proves this place is taking...
Read moreNew guesthouse only a few minutes walk away from the main ferry pier. The staff were great and helped us book tours and a minivan to Puerto, as well as booking tricycles and deferring payments until the ATMs in town had cash again! We ate at the rooftop restaurant/bar which is nicely kitted out and the food was good. The room itself is a decent size and bed was comfortable.
Few issues like no bin in the toilet/room, no sign for the hotel when we first arrived (one has now been put up) so it was a bit hard to find but as the place has only just opened these will/have been sorted.
However the air-conditioning unit in the room was really loud which wasn't ideal when trying to sleep. Also the shower holder was pointing straight up at the wall so you had to hand hold it for use. Both a bit of a pain but didn't really impact our overall stay which was a...
Read moreVery clean room and facilities, friendly staff, pictures shown are indeed what you get. Easy access from and to the airport with tricycles. Rooftop restaurant serves food and has view of the sea. Rather noisy cockrels (crowing 24x7) and cats (nighttime) fighting next door. But, thats to be expected in a tiny tropical village, located in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Quick walk to restaurants, and your agencies. Great stay. (A bit expensive when compared to chong chong (vanilla) beach accommodation on the other side of el nido, which are upscale from el nido town accommodation, and mostly on the...
