OYO 124 Blue Dawn Boracay — Hotel in Malay

Firstly I need to say, you get what you pay for. It's a 1 star hotel on an island that's overpriced in every aspect. |||My boyfriend booked this place for 3 weeks because everything else we wanted that was 4 star on station 3 was apparently full. We are not 5 star snobs, we have traveled and experienced everything. ( We eventually moved to boracay beach club four minute walk away. ) |Sadly he did not check the reviews of blue dawn but I did after he paid a non refundable amount for the total stay. |We were lucky enough to find a room for only 10 days next door in hotel of a higher standard however with no other options we had to spent 11 nights in blue dawn. . ||For the money which was 60 USD per night this is below standard of any hostel I have ever stayed in in the world. It's three or so years old. It's not modern not it is luxurious. ITS AS BASIC AS U GET. ||Basically the hotel is what I consider a hostel but worse. Sadly for us, it rained a lot and the room wasn't a place to be in during the rain. The rooms are TINY with a window that faced a mouldy wall. No wardrobe to hang clothes |One smelly musky cupboard to put your clothes into. |No amenities at all. Not even bottled water. The water that greeted us was in a jug. ||The bed was so small not enough room for two adults. |The bed was up against one wall so difficult to get into. |No hot water (it solar) no back up heater |It had a tv but the room was not a place to relax. |The Airconditioner is so loud and because the rooms so small It was difficult to sleep |The towels(bring your own) |Chickens outside waking u up at all hours with cock a doodle do. |The roof top bar was not even a bar, it's a space!!! The same space u eat breakfast. |The inclusive breakfast was basic but for the money inclusive in room it was just ok. ||The reception is manned full time but staff seem to be in it part time and the staff did just what they had to do, nothing more nothing less ||This is NOT a beach front hotel. The Walk to the beach is a minute walk down a lane. but the beach you get to has diving boats in front of it. The hotel Boracay beach club next to it has a cordoned off area non guest can acces so long as u pay for your food and drink they give u a chair on the beach. ||It's not an easy hotel to find. |They did organise a tuk tuk to the ferry port for us tho which was cheap and an easy transfer. ||If you want basic then this is the place |But don't expect much. ||ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO LET YOU KNOW. |I would like to let you know. I was concerned about the reviews regarding the bugs in this room and the staff brushing it off. ||My boyfriend was bitten by a bug in this room one evening during his stay in this hotel. He woke up with a bite on his finger surrounded by blood under the skin. This infection has now spread to his body and he is now in hospital have tests to determine what it is. We would like to ask if anyone has had this experience during a stay. We understand a bite can happen anywhere so I am not blaming the hotel we just want to know of any other cases. ||Here is a picture after the bite he's now I. Hospital undergoing various test. I have been coming to Boracay for a while now and I have never stayed in this hotel. It was Chinese New Year and all the good hotels were booked out. Therefore, this was one of the only ones left and it wasn't cheap. Although, I think it was too expensive for what it was, it doesn't mean that the hotel is cheap out of peak times. I would say, if you can get a cheap room here. Do it... It is great for travellers and someone on a budget. ||||It is right near the beach in Station 3 and not far from station 2. The location is awesome. ||||The staff are out of this world nice. Ignore any review that says otherwise. They could not do enough to help you and improve your stay. They were very communicative prior to our stay. They booked all our transfers and added price to bill. They were soooooo friendly and helpful. Honestly, they were lovely. The staff are the BEST thing about this hotel. ||||You pay on arrival or when you check out, I just had to leave my passport there. Breakfast was included. It wasn't amazing, but they tailored it to what I wanted. They were very accommodating. It was nice, basic but nice. I didn't have any of the other food in the restaurant, so I can't comment on that. ||||Now, the rooms are BASIC... I mean basic. If you stay here, just go prepared. You need toothpaste, water bottles, conditioner, hair dryer etc. They have shampoo and shower gel in the shower. The beds were pretty comfortable and big considering it was a twin room, they were large singles or small doubles. I didn't have any problems with mosquitos, but my friend downstairs did. ||||They only cleaned my room once when I was there, you must put the clean room light on. Cleaning was fine, and in response to another review- they kept leaving the door open????? They are auto locked, so I think that was exaggerated or the lock was broken. ||||Now, I did have some issues. The air con wasn't working and the first night was unbearably hot. But, the next day someone was in to fix and sort it out and then it was freezing. Perfect, if it works it is good. ||||There is no hot water guys, i think i had a semi warm shower once. It says it is solar panelled and wait for it to heat up. You will be waiting 4 years if you do that. After the heat, it is fine. I didn't mind it. ||||The two biggest issues are the water provided in the rooms and the cockerels. The COCKERELS have got to go. They would wake you up at 3am and be going strong until about 9. I don't know what they can do, but they need to do something. This issue will put them out of business. Too many reviews mentioning it. ||||The final issue is the water provided in the rooms. They give you water in a glass bottle when you arrive. DO NOT DRINK THIS. I do not know where it is from (it is not bottled) and I am 100% mine was changed at all when I was there. Tip to the hotel, just get rid of it. Provide cheap bottled water on arrival and that is it. You don't need it and it...

If you're going to Boracay around the Chinese New Year holiday be sure to book your accommodations EARLY!!!! I waited too long and the only place left for me to book was The Blue Dawn Boracay...Lesson learned. After booking, I tried to contact them via email and telephone for 3 weeks and got no answer. A few days before my trip I called again and finally got someone on the phone and asked who was I speaking with, the woman refused to tell me her name. I asked her to tell me her name and for 5 minutes she refused to tell me. I was scheduled to arrive on a Saturday but couldn't make it to the island until Sunday due to my plane ticket, the receptionist told me that be okay. I just wanted to get her name just in case someone gave me grief when I arrived that I could say I spoke with the receptionist by the name of blah blah blah. It made me feel a little weird that she wouldn't give me her name.||||We arrive on Sunday and were instantly told that for the duration of our 6 days there will be NO HOT WATER. Each morning we showered in cold (not freezing) water. The rooms were okay and the air conditioning worked well. There are roosters that will crow in the mornings and throughout the day but that didn't bother me much. There are stools and little tables to the corners of each floor where guests can sit, the problem with them is that if your room is next to those areas it can be quite loud. I had to get out of bed a few times to ask people to please keep the noise down. Our room included breakfast, we were never told where to go or what we wanted. The only time we were asked what we wanted for breakfast was on our 5th night, which by then we had already make the Sunny Side Cafe our breakfast spot. ||||One great thing was a caring staff member went to get my friend medicine from the pharmacy when he learned that she was sick. He continued to check on her the next day and got her Gatorade. He was the best!||||I think the location is good as you're close to the beach and the Sunny Side Cafe.
