Don’t Go To Astoria Current.. If you don’t want a worry-free, convenient, and relaxing vacation. This review is specifically during our visit from Aug 11 to Aug 14, 2025. Our visit was more than just a vacation — it was a celebration! We came to Boracay to mark our family friend’s 20th wedding anniversary, complete with a sweet twist: a renewal of vows ceremony. The plan was for something simple, but God had other plans. As you’ll see in the photos below, He made it extra special. And what truly elevated the celebration was how the amazing team at Astoria Current went above and beyond to make it unforgettable. Originally, we wanted the trip to be cost-efficient. We only budgeted for food, keeping everything else minimal. But the good folks from Astoria surprised us — they arranged a beautiful long table on the rooftop of their dining area, provided a projector, microphone, and speakers, and even took the time to set everything up with aesthetic charm. The décor, the setting, and the warm atmosphere they created turned our “simple” plan into something extraordinary. Throughout the entire celebration, the staff’s attentiveness was unmatched. They stayed with us the whole time, making sure we were comfortable and cared for — until we sang ourselves tired! And now, the food! Honestly, I have a love-hate relationship here — I hate that everything was so delicious that just one soupy dish was enough to fill and satisfy me, meaning I didn’t even get to explore the rest of the viands on the long table (photo attached) ! Every bite was worth it. Not my first rodeo with Astoria Current This trip was actually my fourth visit. And if budget allows, whenever I return to Boracay, I’d choose Astoria Current again without hesitation. Here’s why: • The rooms may not be the most posh in the area, but they are perfect in size — not too big, not too small — and wonderfully comfy with a vibrant, upbeat vibe. • The customer service is always accessible. Whether you need help on the ground or on any floor, just pick up the room phone and press “0.” • And my personal favorite — their bibingka! Every day, you can grab their famous bibingka: Traditional, Ube, and Dulce de Leche. For our 4 days and 3 nights, we indulged in all of them… repeatedly. As someone from Rizal, I’m used to having bibingka available, but Astoria’s version is simply something else. Shoutouts and thanks I’m writing this review because I am genuinely pleased and satisfied with the service. I also tend to remember names when I’m delighted with people, so here’s my roll call of appreciation: • Sir Ollie Atienza – One of the managers, always checking on us and present during our celebration. We even asked him to take a photo with the bride and groom. • Sir Tey – While I didn’t get to chat with him, I often saw him dining where guests were having breakfast — a reassuring sign that leadership is hands-on in ensuring quality service and food. • Benedict – One of dining crew. He was always attentive to our group’s needs and requests. Special thanks also to the Astoria Current's leadership team for supporting students through their OJT program. I had the pleasure of meeting Kyla from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina (PLMAR), who impressed me with her confidence, authenticity, and customer service skills. She was always smiling and went beyond just fulfilling requests — I’m certain she’ll go far. This isn’t a paid review. But when I think of Boracay, there’s only one “home away from home” for me — Astoria Current. Lastly, a heartfelt thanks to MaG and April for sharing your member perks with us. If time and budget allow, I’d love to become a member myself one day (How I wish!)

Pros: Well located on station 3, if you want a hotel where you can walk from your room to the beachfront in 2 minutes this is certainly great. The room and hotel is generally very clean, smells fresh and there are always staff around taking care of the hotel. The rooms were very clean. The food in the restaurant are good quality and tasty. We enjoyed breakfast and one buffet dinner and I can certainly recommend to eat here. WiFi has a very good speed and the AirCon in the room cooled it perfectly. This was appreciated. The staff are generally very very friendly and hospitable and they have a lot of trainees. Cons: The colour scheme may not be enjoyed by all. Also note that a lot of the rooms are internal rooms with no natural sunlight. This is an issue with space as the hotel has around 200 rooms, built in 2015. I requested towels at the poolside the one afternoon we went swimming in their pool, I was told they were “awaiting new stock” and it would take an hour. Surely a hotel has enough towels per guest for swimming? This was poor but the attendant did manage to find some. The breakfast on the first morning was chaotic, I had to ask for a bowl, for some butter, for some sugar. These things were not replenished and despite all the many staff they had nobody was taking care of these things. I think the hotel was fully booked and the restaurant can’t cope with the number of guests, they had a spill out area in the Parasol bar. Check out was something out of this world. After waiting in queue for 10 minutes while other guests were checked in at 11:45am. Jessica took my card but then proceeded to check out the person behind me first. I found this very rude, discriminatory and disrespectful and not the standard I would expect from this kind of hotel. I moved away and took a seat since she showed no interest in checking me out. She eventually got around to it, all very slowly. I did let her know of my disappointment and dissatisfaction but she seemed totally unequipped and untrained to offer any apology. I’d paid my bill and then went to exit the hotel to find that security actually blocks your exit from the hotel without a small slip she hadn’t given us. I finally succeeded in taking this from her hand so we could leave. What an awful experience, treating people like criminals despite having a deposit left on my card. Sadly, due to that last experience I would not stay here again.

As AVLCI Member, the whole accommodation of our stay was absolutely worth it. Booking was seamlessly made thru email, Instructions and Travel Requirements are clear. Arriving from Caticlan Airport, hassle free transfers from Van to Jetty Port, The person incharge will take care of the payments of Terminal and Environmental fees, all you have to do, sit back, go to the SpeedBoat, enjoy Bora's scenery. Arriving at Island port, another van will be waiting for your transfer to Astoria Current. If you have another guests together with your booking, they would gladly accommodate them too. Upon and while waiting for your check-in, they gave us delicious signature Ice tea and Astoria's Bibingka. They accepted our request for Early check-in, to have rest. The room they gave us 2 Connecting bedrooms, with 2 bathroom each and 1 toilet, which is the biggest room in all of Current. Overviewing the Pool and Station 3 Beach. Beds & Pillows are clean & comfortable. Disinfected before our check-in as standard protocols. The room is very stylish modern looking, the cabinets hides amazingly. And youll never know its a cabinet! Complete in Shampoo, Conditioner, BodyWash, Lotion, Toothbrush toothpaste, Towels, Toiletries and complimentary drinking water, can request afterwards. For our stay of 4days.3nights, good for 6 Guests, 2 Kids Foods for us are 15% discount which is delicious and worth it. Would like to special mention Kevin John Cawaling, our server for most of our stay, who is very accommodating, attentive to our needs, and kind to give us extras for our meal. He is very hardworking. Keep it up! Kevin! Pool is huge and very nice millennial-like vibes! Great for 'barkada' nights. Theres another huge Pool shaped "A" at the back which is a sea water you can enjoy. The roofdeck is best view for Sunset 🌅 while feel the sea breeze of Bora. 🌬🌊 hope to have access in the uppermost roofdeck because it is closed. Can access the gym which is huge. All staff are welcoming, they greet you anywhere. They also clean up the place. I was just disappointed with avlci member representative who did not get back to me. Or any updates reg. on my inquiry. Will all these, with hassle free services, our overall vacation in Boracay is absolutely great. Will definitely go back! Already miss this place. Thanks Astoria Current for accommodating us.
