The white sands is as much a hotel as a stable is a Palace.
The biggest scam in hospitality we have ever witnessed with our family. I will elaborate my review so no other person will do the same mistake I did when booking my trip to Boracay. First of all the overpriced transfer to airport: 25 min, 100€. Then the arrival to the hotel, no smile from the staff, no welcome drinks, just a sentiment of entering in a military facility where a grumpy guard (the receptionist) makes you sign by force a list of rules large like the civil code. My son ventured to the reception bathroom. No words, I had to go and see by myself to believe it. It was as dirty as the toilets of a Shoreditch Rave in the 90’s at 11am. Excrements on the floor, urine… a disgrace when you travel with kids. We have also seen rats on 3 occasions running in the lobby by the pool. The staff was purely and simply terrible. Unable to understand a simple question, unfriendly. In short, very very far from a professional hospitality service. The room… no pressure in the shower, we asked them to fix it… If you read my commentary that far, you can only expect the outcome. I had an insect nest over my bed that was dripping larva on my pillows all night long. The last morning, we woke up at 5am to catch a flight. Impossible to have a coffe because they already gave us water bottles. Although we have paid for a breakfast that we did not take this morning, it is 1 drink only per person. Barracks rules, you obey soldier.
I really regret my booking. I wasn’t expecting a luxury service at all, I am here simply complaining about the lack of basic hospitality requirements. The white sands is everything but a 4 star hotel. A sanitary checkout is really urgent.

Read moreAs a seasoned traveller for work and leisure this was the first time that we were accused of stealing a hand towel. The staff did an unauthorised clean of our room 215, the second day we were there and then they find a hand towel missing on check out. Reading some reviews this has also happened to other guest. We asked them to go through all our luggage as we would not pay for something that we had not taken. They had a staff member go through all our suitcases and hand luggage and found nothing.
The quality of the build. Ceilings sagging in the bathroom. Down lights appear to be glued in. The phone in the room did not work. The wifi did not work too good in the room which was needed for us to transfer money and check in for our flights. The lifts still do not work and I believe they have not worked from day one. Water leaks from the shower into the bedroom area. One of the hanging lights in our room had a faulty globe and kept flashing on and off. We informed the staff who did nothing about it. We also could not use our room for two days due to workman using a hammer drill right above our room which they did not inform us about. All they said was that it had to be finished but no offer to move us to another room. Appears to be an unfinished hotel with a lot of work that needs doing. No vacuum cleaner to vacuum the sand out the room. Only a broom to sweep with.
The only good thing is that it is right on the beach and has its own swimming pool. The breakfast was good except the menu does not change much...
