Booked a suite that had 3 bedrooms and 2 washrooms for our 7 family group. We unanimously disliked our stay and wouldn't recommend or return.
Upon early arrival, we were shown the suite and allowed to place our luggage in the den of the suite, while the suite would be cleaned and prepared for us. It had a locked door that the attendant said he would only have the key for so we could be confident that our luggage was safe. I placed my Canadian currency into one of my zippered pockets of my backpack. When our suite was ready and I was unpacking from my bags, I noticed that my Canadian bills were short a $10 bill.
The beds had no blankets, there were only sheets to use for sleeping. sheets! We assumed this was to save on air conditioning costs as you wouldn't have a blankets to keep you warm. Speaking of air conditioning, the units were so filthy. The grills were caked with black / brown stuff.
As mentioned, we had a 3 bedroom suite that houses at least 6 people (2 single beds in 2 of the bedrooms and a full that sleeps 2) but they only provided 4 towels. When asking for 2 additional towels from reception, we had to ask multiple times. This happened again when we wanted towel replacements the next day, we had to call multiple times to finally get someone to deliver towels.
The fridge had beverages and on check out, they tried to charge us for drinks that we bought from outside because we left the empties on the counter in the suite. They assumed they were from the fridge. After we told them they were not from the fridge, they then tried to charge us for a drink in the fridge that was damaged because the fridge was set too cold but we didn't even use the fridge.
The wifi was terrible. We had to have individual login credentials for everyone and they said they would expire everyday. The wifi is so slow and sometimes I wouldn't even be able to access anything online.
One good thing from the stay was the breakfast buffet. I and my cousins thought it was a good breakfast selection and...
Read moreThe hotel- ||||Pros: The hotel is located near malls, business centers, 7-11, great restaurants etc. The neighborhood is safe and not noisy. Great for a good night sleep. The suite was spacious and cozy. The bed was big and comfortable. The toilet was clean, had bidet, decent shower pressure and some toiletries. The mini bar had drinks and snacks (paid). Free tea/coffee/water. Great room overall. ||||Cons: Air Condition is dead old (Takes time to cool up the room. Hope its gets changed.) There's no balcony and the street down the hotel can get really busy. You might sometimes have to wait 30 mins for your grab to reach you. No deal breaker really. ||||The Hotel restaurant: It is situated on the top most floor with glass wall/window overlooking the town. Nice view while eating. But that's just that. The food here was terrible. Terrible maybe an understatement too lol its the worst I've ever eaten. I wasn't expecting great posh food yet it was horrible in all standards. For this quality hotel, we expect good food. I've had Chicken teriyaki once and the chicken was solid hard..I thought it was either burnt or left over and reheated. I thought it could be a one-off. So no biggie. Next day we've ordered Spaghetti, Beef steak etc, and guess what, all of it was dead hard too. WTH lol. My jaws were tired struggling to chew the spaghetti. It tasted good but it was like trying to chew a rubber band. The knife and fork got defeated by the beef steak. It was uncuttable lol It like a whole eraser placed on a plate. Disastrous food. Even street food was better lol. Hope they do something in that kitchen. ||||The staff- They were all excellent and amazing. The front desk, the housekeeper, especially the waiters at the restaurant, the technician were all amazing and helpful people. Top service by all the staff. keep it up. ||||Would I go back ? Definitely. Besides the garbage restaurant food, everything else was great. Just eat at the malls or...
Read moreOur recent stay at Fernandina Suites 88 Hotel was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. What was meant to be a joyful family celebration turned into a frustrating and distressing experience, especially with minors present.
Upon check-in, we were given a room that was clearly unsanitary and poorly maintained. The bedsheets already had visible stains, yet we were still charged ₱750 for them despite informing the staff of their condition and providing photo evidence taken immediately upon arrival. This felt like an unfair and deceptive practice.
To make matters worse, we were told by housekeeping that unless we cleaned the room ourselves, we would be charged an additional ₱500 cleaning fee. My sister and brother-in-law ended up cleaning the room just to avoid further unjust charges. Something that should never be the responsibility of paying guests.
The room also had cockroaches and visible dirt, raising serious concerns about hygiene and health safety. Appliances were broken, and the floor was in poor condition, showing a clear lack of upkeep.
We formally raised all of these issues in a written complaint to management and requested a refund of the unfair linen charge, a formal apology, and a review of their internal policies to prevent this from happening to future guests.
This experience not only failed to meet basic hospitality standards, but may also violate consumer protection laws in the Philippines. I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families with children.
I hope the management takes this seriously and improves both their facilities and staff conduct...
