From the airport, an inexpensive and fairly short journey by train to Krakow Glowny, the main train station, where you find yourself in an enormous shopping mall. Less than 10 minutes walk willl take you to the Roller Hostel. I attach a photo of our twin room (7) but there are already many photos here which show the other rooms and the exterior of the building which is sandwiched between an atmospheric bar with cheap beer and good music on one side, and a reasonably priced supermarket on the other. ||||The hostel is just outside the city wall and a pleasant walk of less than 10 minutes takes you to the city centre.||||The reception is on the second floor, along with a large kitchen (oven, microwave and fridge)/eating/relaxing area with TV and games. Coffee for the percolator, or instant, and tea are free, with milk in the comunal fridge. Cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery are on site. This was spotlessly clean, as was every part of the hostel we saw.||||Our room was large and the beds were comfortable. A large radiator provided ample warmth. We had a TV (which we didn't watch) a wardrobe, 2 small tables and a small sofa. Our provate bathroom was perfectly fine. Our large window overlooked the rear of the hotel and we had no problem with noise. WiFi was free and good.||||I cannot speak highly enough of the staff who not only perfomed the usual duties with efficiency and helpfulness, but who went that extra mile when they found my glasses after I left the hostel. They telephoned me in Riga, where I had moved on to, and then not only did they post them to me in the UK, but they bought a smart glasses case for them. That is real...
Read moreIs this a hostel? No. Is it a hotel? No. It is somewhere in between. Whatever it is, I loved it. There is a choice of accommodations. You can have a room with a double bed or a room with twin beds. You can have a room with a balcony, or one without. If you have a balcony, you may to share a bathroom with 2 other rooms. If you forego the balcony, then you will have an en suite bathroom. | It is an older building in the centre of Krakow. The location simply couldn't be better; turn left for the markets, right for the Galeria Krakowska shopping mall. The bedrooms are huge with high ceilings. Spotlessly clean. No frills. No TV or fridge in the rooms. However, there is a communal TV room and a kitchen on the 3rd floor next to reception. There is also tea and coffee units on each floor. Help yourself. I don't know why anyone would want to cook there, unless they are on a really tight budget, because it is sandwiched between an excellent bar, and a mini supermarket that sells really good, cheap snacks. The Galeria has as many restaurants and fast food outlets as you could possibly need.|I could go on all day about this place. I am in my 60's. I have been backpacking since I was a teenager, and I have stayed in many hotels. But this place is in a class of its own. Thank you Tomek aka 'Tom' and all the...
Read moreIm definitely not a hostel kinda guy but booked this on the basis of the reviews and im so glad i did. I 'splurged' on the deluxe room with private bathroom which was not much more than the other rooms and gotta say it was the most amazing room. Huge, 2 beds, sofa, enormous floor to ceiling windows with a view onto the glorious street on which this building is located. ||I arrived after the official check in time (reception manned from 0700-2200) and as i had the instructions on how to gain access to the property after hours, i arrived at around 2230 and the guy had reception had waited for me to arrive to ensure I got in okay. Very personable and was immediately offering suggestions on things to do and places to go etc. Kudos!!!||Location couldnt be better, few mins walk to the main train station which is attached to biggest shopping mall i thing i ever seen. Few mins walk in the other direction and your in the main tourist areas and streets. ||Couldnt...
