Glonojad is a restaurant that sells global dishes, just north of the old town. It is a purely vegetarian restaurant with some vegan options labelled. With most dishes you choose two salads from the salad bar. Ask though as some of the salads contain dairy. Generally the vegan options on the menu were the quesadilla that I had and curries. They ask you if you want the dish spicy or not. No vegan pierogi in stock on either visit we made.
Vegan Quesadilla had pesto, sun-dried tomato, vegan cheese and courgette inside. It was decent but the star was the little pot of very rich red pepper sauce. In Krakow the vegan cheese is very old school. It's the thick violife which I am used to and have an acquired taste for. It doesn't have that vile fake cheese smell which is good. But it is definitely not like the lighter vegan cheeses that have started to appear in England.
The samosas were mild, used shortcrust pastry, a lot of nigella seed flavour and cumin. Sauce was not very strong tasting I couldn't entirely tell what it was, it was kind of tomatoey but nice.
The salads were brilliant! All of them were tasty and a bit different!
The courgette and carrot one was a pickled salad. Not too vinegary but light and fresh.
The potato salad was slightly mayonnaisey, a hint of vinegar and a very strong dill taste.
The cucumber was creamy, used very strong dill again and I think a little tumeric too.
The lettuce was very heavy on the celery taste and spring onion. With cream sauce.
The beetroot was a little vinegary and sweet. I thought I wouldn't like it but they do beetroot well here so it wasn't too sweet and sour which I hate, it was delicately balanced.
The tomato salad was like bruscetta topping, my favourite! It had a little spring onion too which was a nice touch.
Outdoor/indoor seating. Friendly staff and daily veggie specials. Worth a visit for the...
Read moreI made two trips here during my stay in Krakow. The first time I came they had ran out of everything but lasagne (which unfortunately wasn't vegan so I couldn't pick that option), the young lady who worked there was so lovely and helpful she wrote down instructions to find a nearby place that did vegan food! So thoughtful of her as I didn't have a phone on me to get directions myself. The second time I came they had every option available. I chose the vegan pierogi with a couple of different salads (you can choose from a few different types). I must mention on of these salads as it was very unusual but delicious, made mostly of fruit and carrot with added chilli - pretty amazing. The food is reasonably priced and is served quick. I would recommend this place to anyone who visits Krakow, not just...
Read moreCute cozy place. The menu is vaired including vegan options as well as options that can be made vegan opon request. I ordered the vegan burrito and each meal comes with a choice of two salads out of six. The food was very tasty and cleary fresh. I also got the carrot juice which was a bit pulpy for my liking but still nice. We also got a massive vegan cookie to share after our meal which was very tasty. It wasn't too sweet almost slightly savoury (like popcorn). A great spot if you're looking for simple but tasty veggie food- curries, falafels, burritos etc. The staff were nice and the food arrived quickly. It was alos on of the only places in Krakow where I felt no pressure to order quickly or our plates cleared quickly after eating. Very enjoyable and in a nice area for an after...
