(estávamos no 2 andar..). Toda a “decoração” é velha e estragada.

Rooms are fine, if a bit old-fashioned - service however is not great, they don't seem too happy to have you as a guest, and the breakfast is very basic

Imagine yourself in the roar of the 50s, alighting at the station of Coimbra, and finding yourself in a neighbourhood of modern hotels, flashing lights, and an overall welcoming environment. Right next to the station, you have Hotel Bragança, at the time probably considered sky-high. You climb the steps, and you walk in a hall decorated in a sober but elegant manner, with a lounge filled with people smoking cigars in their leather chairs. You go up to your room, to find elegant iron beds and a large bathtub, where you can rest for a while before facing the brouhaha of the student city.||||That might have been it, half a century ago. Now, Hotel Bragança stands right next to the decay of an abandoned building, facing another hotel that, though it was certainly vibrant at the time, now looks like it has been closed for over three decades.||||Hotel Bragança itself, still hosting, seems to have stopped in time. The three stars it boasts will surprise you -- currently, it has the comfort of a regular bed and breakfast, no fancy extras, nothing extravagant, down to the basics. But the building might gain your sympathy for being authentically old and not fashionably retro.||||It is perfectly fine if you are, like I was during my stay, just looking for a place not too expensive to spend a night on your way elsewhere. The rooms are clean, they give you a small bar of soap, the breakfast is nothing special (but then again, people have been spoilt when it comes to hotel breakfasts and tend to expect everything, from scrambled eggs to caviar), the internet access is still done through a public desktop at the common room, all extras (like the toothbrush you forgot) are paid. A major plus: the view is great and the windows open! I don’t know about you, but it exasperates me when, to prevent you from smoking or from wanting to fly, I don’t know, the windows are locked tight at hotels.||||And you can still rest for a while before facing the brouhaha of the...

Price/Quality is amazing in this place. Breakfast is great considering the price point (pastry, several varieties of bread, coffee, etc..). I was a little bit concerned with some of the comments here, but I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised.

I think many reviews forget the price point. If I were to pay 200€ for the room, I wouldn't be so positive. But I didn't, I paid 36€. And for that price point I've seen many horror stories. This is not one of them.

I'd gladly stay here many more times, and, to be honest, any time I need to spend a night in Coimbra I'll pick this spot.

A perfect example of a low-cost, no frills, hotel. It's clean, friendly, safe, and quite comfortable. Exactly what I was looking for. Two more things: for the hotel, they should definitively align their marketing with this aspect, and for customers, if you take your car plan the parking, because the hotel has a very small...
