Where do I begin with this horrific experience. I checked in and was supposed to receive a double room, they false advertised and put me in a small cramped room with twin beds overlooking the main Avenue with constant noise from traffic. Not to mention behind the hotel were a group of not so welcoming looking individuals in an alley way just hanging out and smoking, drinking and harassing the pedestrians. The next day I was running late to catch my train to Tomar, which was cancelled due to the national railroad strike in Portugal. I needed to get to the Coimbra B station and book another train ASAP. I asked the front desk guy to help me and he tried calling for me which was the least they could do. I had very little time before my Uber to the train station and asked for a piece of gluten free bread, which took forever. The young blonde front desk girl had the nerve to charge me 10 € for a piece of bread! Are you kidding me? You see me rushing to the train station to figure out my transportation situation and didn't have anything else but a lousy price of bread and water and you have the nerve to charge me? I would expect some type of courtesy towards your guest with a major railroad strike and the possibility of being stuck without transportation to their next destination but all you care about is 10 € for bread and water. Shame on your horrendous staff and policy I will be disputing my entire stay due to the conditions. Find better accommodations by Largo de Portagem or wherever, just...
Read moreMy wife and I enjoyed a lovely and comfortable stay in their double room. The room was incredibly quiet with a nice view and the hotel is close to the Mondego River. The hotel has modern facilities. A local cab driver told us that it was a newly renovated building. The staff was very nice and always available to greet us when we came in or went out: I found this very interesting as this type of service is new to me. I was there with my wife for a week and we had no problems with the staff. The drier, bed, bathroom, toilet and closet were all new as we saw in the photos. The fridge comes filled with drinks which can be used and paid for later, but we didn't use this service. I was able to connect my phone via Bluetooth to the smart TV and enjoy some personal audio content on my phone. Breakfast was nice with pastries, poached eggs, sausages, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, bread and juice, largely the same menu throughout our stay, which I think could be improved. Irons are only...
Read moreThis hotel is a fantastic choice to stay if ever you visit Coimbra! Checking in and out was smooth, and it was only 5 minutes from the main train station- Coimbra-B. The hotel is not very big so I would imagine you need to book early. You are located next to the metro train station, right next to the river, and walking distance to the most visited sites in Coimbra for the most part. The best part is the price. It is inexpensive for what you get in return. Our room was small, yet big enough. The bathroom was modern, although the ventilation was not there so it was fogged up for a while, but that was the only thing we didn't care for. There is an outside patio portion of the upstairs bar which provides exquisite views at night. The refrigerator was prestocked with convenient snack and drink of you wanted and the wifi was good. The staff was very helpful, professional, and attentive as well. When we go back to Coimbra, we...
