Left me incredibly dissapointed. Writing this right after I checked in, but will post it next day after breakfast and a night's sleep to be fair. Yes it is a 2 star hotel, I get it. BUT there are things that were omitted and are crucial and would have a world of difference. The room we were given is the smallest room in the hotel with the back window that is not next to beds but in a nook/cranny blocked from the beds by a supporting beam inside the room which is horrible. The room we were given is 113 and I'm guessing same for 213, 313 etc. The room is dark from the start, lighting is bad (bare minimum spotlights). The room itself is just off with the tiniest bathroom. There were other [better] rooms available but we were given this one (the hotel was not busy and it was in a middle of the week aka working days not busy holidays or weekends). My guess because we only booked one night and they figured they did not want to waste good room for cleaning service after one night stay. NONE of hotel pictures or booking sites show this room. So here's my photos so other travelers are aware. As you walk in you can bump into the beds from the door, thats how cramped everything is. Two beds, two night stands, tiny table, tiny one chair so one person sits at a time and an open rack/shelf with TWO metal laundromat hangers. For two average size females this is a sad moment. The bathroom does not have a bidet hence it is very small in size. There are no hooks, there are no other space but your bed to unpack any suitcases that you might have. Dissapointing. If you are traveling with another person you literally have to put all your stuff on bathroom floor or have your suitcase on your bed. They could have attached command hooks or put a nail on an inside of the door so that one could hang a towel or clothing while showering. The bathroom tiles had weird tape on the walls still on and there was absolutely no shampoo, Im not asking for fancy stuff but there wasnt even any of the standard magical 3 in 1 magical solution for shampoo/conditioner/shower gel on a shower wall.||I did not even want to take a shower here, I waited until I trabsfered to another one with better conditions||The open shelf had to be wiped down which I do anyways but here it was obvious dust mites or something that needed to be removed. There are no conveniences or small pleasures that you would hope from a hotel room. If I wanted less quality I would have paid way less and have gone camping or gone a hostel route for a different price. The room I was given at a 3 star price I would not have paid more than €69 and it seems you dont know what you are going to get as this room was not shown in any of the booking sites, which is not fair but bait and switch. |The price of the room and the quantity of beds suppose to be for two people and yet physically the ammenities and "comforts" of the room seemed to be for one person. If one person goes to the bathroom to take a shower they either have to put their clothing or towel on a floor, toilet or hang everything on a shower glass door and expect it to get wet. The toilet paper just sits on top of a toilet tank as there is no holder or hook for it either. The bathroom space does not allow to store your toiletries for both people so you have to keep it outside of bathroom and bring it with you from the shelf in a room as well (like in a shared space aka dormitory). Doing makeup or just trying to feel comfortable in bed is despressing as you feel like you are in a room with four walls as the window or any natural light is blocked by a column. 3 hrs into our stay there was a horrendous stench and it did not go away to the point that I started to feel nauseated. So I grabbed my umbrella and had to go out under windy and chilly rainy wheather as that day was a storm over Portugal and Spain. The smells continued though. We had to keep the bathroom locked the whole time because of the smells and the window open hoping it would air out.||The air conditioner/heater monitor on a wall in a room did not work, it is there as a decoration only. The only way to control the room environment/smell/temperature is by the window in a nook, which is not as helpful as the air is stagnant in the back of it, so it is basically useless.||I then stayed at another hotel 17 min walk north from this one and I paid less for that 3 star hotel then this one 2 star which is unbelievable (literally €3 difference and the €3 euro more is for this one!!! not the better one!!!)||Only trash can outside of bathroom because they is no space to have one there or an additional one so if you need to dispose of something in a bathroom you have to bring it into the room.||The hotel is either 4 or 5 floors with 10 rooms on each floor so somewhere between 40-50 rooms. There were about 5 rooms at most that were at breakfast at 820am. It was definitely not fully booked so not sure why they would offer such a room when there is plenty to choose from.||The hallways are covered with tiles so other people rolling their suitcases at a ungodly hour throught out early morning was heard quite frequently and abbresive. At one point my other person woke up because they thought someone was walking in our room and I was laying in bed.||Next morning: we had no reason to wake up at 6am on vacation. Our train did not leave until 12pm and breakfast only started at 8:15am or 8:30am and there we were, awoken by kitchen banging, dish cracking, glass clacking, appliances working, garbage being taken out and other noises with smells at 6:05 because we were right above the kitchen, my guess. Not ok. Even if you didnt get the same room im guessing any room on same floor facing the backyard would wake you up with same noises. 8am there was banging and construction work somewhere in the building and you could hear it. ||The breakfast....ughh. I do not take extra items and always eat everything so the plate is clean. I try my best not to randomly pick items and waste food. The coffee/tea machine is standard, cereal.. Selection as a whole is dismal. One specific cheese, 3 similar looking cold cut processed meats. Fruit bowl was filled with cut fruit and filled in its own juive/water....nothing was on ice...including milk. The juices were orange and pinapple and it came form machine and it was bad. I've already been in 3 different Portugal hotels, and this is the only place that had a messed up "juice" it tasted like pinapple water or pinapple mixed with mineral (bubbles) water. I took a sip and could not touch it again. I did not want to chance it with orange juice after that.||Just go to another hotel. Not worth it. There are several hotels on this same block to...
Read moreConvinient location, public transport easily available, shops, cafés - all of these is accessible by walk. Friendly staff, who was very polite and welcoming. In general, room is clean with fresh smell.
Breakfast was very poor: it has very limited options (day 1: a lot of meat, 1 cheese, several types of bakery, chopped fruits like apple, orange and others and mixed together, it made this mixture sour and completely tasteless; day 2: instead of some meat - omelette) and all of the dishes were of low quality. It included also juice mixed with water and instant coffee (yummy?).
The mattress is quite firm, the pillows are very soft, we woke up two nights without rest. Hair dryer produces only cold air. We didn't find the "do not disturb" sign until the second morning before check out, because it was hidden in a drawer. Yes, when you enter a new room and of course you start looking at what's in each drawer. As a result - the cleaning lady broke into the room when the person was in the bathroom (which in turn doesn't close from inside) - a very pleasant experience, you know.
Sockets are located inconveniently - behind the bedside tables, we had to push them aside to charge gadgets, as a result, we saw that the space after the tables are quite dirty. Although in general the room was quite clean.
There were no shampoo or bath gel. The air conditioner did not turn on, we do not know whether the remote control did not work or the air conditioner itself. And a few more non-critical details, such as just 3 hangers for 2 people, or a TV under the ceiling, which is completely uncomfortable to watch.
We believe quality and price ratio is inadequate here (+/-75 eur per night), for 15-20 there are definitely better options in...
