(1) Prior to arrival I was sent a message reminding me is only served in the unusual 09:00-10:30 slot. Having to be at work by that time, I asked for an alternative arrangement directly and was told “Yes, we have a solution to that. We will leave breakfast in your room everyday.” Having arrived on Saturday, I ate in the breakfast room on Sunday with the other guests. By 08:15 on Monday, there was no breakfast in my room but, as the breakfast room was ready, I ate there. The difficulty arose on Tuesday, when the contractor had not yet started at 8. Again, no breakfast in my room, so I rummaged through the kitchen in search for anything to eat. The contractor arrived, yet when I tried to challenge her about my breakfast, she only replied that she does not speak English. However, on returning in the afternoon there were plates with fruit and cheese, jam, ham, butter. It was clearly all counted out – two of each for each day from Wednesday to Friday. So much for “we will leave in your room ‘every day’”.||2) Monday evening I returned to my room and seemed to be unable to open the door with my code. A young man (who never introduced himself: neither did he wear anything with the ‘Lisbon Suites’ livery) suddenly appeared saying “did you not get my message? The code was changed in the afternoon”. No explanation why – and this was the second lie as the Whatsapp message has got a time stamp – the same time when I tried to open my door!||3) Apart from Tuesday, I was woken every single morning around 7 am as my room was close to the breakfast room & kitchen. None of the promised ‘sound proofing’ as there are large gaps between the door and the frame – and the door to the kitchen was clearly never closed. Invariably, the making of breakfast, setting up tables and, on occasion, noisy chatter of the contractor and her colleagues or friends woke me. Every single morning.||4) For those getting the full breakfast – it is not only late by any standards, but also pretty basic. Cheese and ham is cut up into small squares, the coffee seems to be instant, the juice is just squash.||5) Lisbon Suites does not clean the same. Well, if it is requested, some things are being done: the bed is made, the wash basin and mirror are wiped. Crucially, the bins are emptied, which is pretty important, given that toilet paper cannot be flushed. The room was only cleaned twice in the seven nights I was there – once after I e-mailed (no reply received) and then when I left the card ‘please make up my room’. However, it has to be said that it is the most perfunctory clean I have ever come across: never once were the floors swept, the toilet and the shower were not cleaned either. Worse still, rather than replenish toilet paper, after the second clean, the remaining roll had been taken away! Why?||6) While hygiene might be not a priority, neither is health: the room had main lights and spot lights by the bed. The later, however, were not connected to the mains, nor were they fixed to the post – they could easily fall out. Likewise, I noticed that warm food was prepared for breakfast (scrambled eggs, ham, baked beans with sausage). However, on the three occasions I ate in the breakfast room I noticed that these were lukewarm even at only 09:00. There was a light to keep the food heated underneath the container – and it was never once lit. A food inspector might find that kind of procedure unacceptable.||7) Since the main light was rather bright in the evening, I had asked in my e-mail sent on Tuesday to be given a small table light to have by the bed. Not only was there no response to the e-mail, I never got that light - - so much for reading before going to sleep.||8) The blurb states there is a lift. I was out of order throughout and it did not look like it is going to be repaired at any point.||9) There is a reception desk. It was never once staffed in my eight days at the property. Apart from the uncommunicative breakfast contractor and the young man who changed my door entry code for no reason whatsoever, staff were never seen and, apart from the first e-mail about re-arranging breakfast, were not communicating at all.||||Overall, apart from charging a fortune, the place is neither as described, and the testimonials left on Booking.com’s site are misleading. Not one member of staff seemed to be trained to do their job, with potentially dangerous consequences. As not even the minimal expectations were met (in fact, being left locked out once and left without the paid for breakfast once, that is putting it mildly). Instead, staff has been evasive, not to say dishonest. The stay has been uncomfortable, with too many issues to worry about and with being woken too early every morning. All in all, I really could not wait to leave Lisbon just because of...
Read moreI was on a cruise prior going to Lisbon. I tried to cancel this hotel three days before our arrival. The ship had a very poor internet connection and I wasn’t able to send the cancellation sooner. As soon as we reached land I found a place that had a good internet connection and I sent the cancellation notice. I was told the cancellation could not be done because their policy must be done 5 days or less from the arrival date. We went to the hotel and it was disgusting. There was a mattress in the hallway, we had to walk up one flight of stairs to get to the part time receptionist and when we went to the room it had two single beds that must have been there since the 19 hundreds. It was so small we had to walk sideways to get around. We realized that this was not a place we could stay in. I tried once again to ask for a refund. When my request was denied we left to go to a different hotel. Your photos and description do not represent the actual hotel. We found this very misleading and will never use or recommend your company to book a hotel. Shame on you for listing this hotel as a choice. We wouldn’t send oUr worst enemy there. Please remove my contact information from your database. I don’t want any emails sent to me by your company. I lost over $500 because you misrepresented...
Read moreFirst of all, it should be called le dernier suites. We spent 4 days there and saw none of the staff, nobody we could talk to and arrange a breakfast that was apparently from 9.30 - 10.30 am. No complementary water or whatever they promised. Coffee machine was great though. Someone supposedly comes there but not before 8-9 am and stays there untill 4 pm. The rest of the day it was really like a ghost hotel. At our first arrival, at 3 pm via e-mail we received the codes for the hotel and room door and it was ok but on the way back from the Azores to the same place - nothing. Later on in the night we received the codes from our last stay that were invalid. In the middle of the night we had to give up and find a real hotel. Our situation helped us understand what the guy from our first visit was going through. He was probably in the same situation, in the hallway with all his stuff for 4-5 hours in the evening... He and us could only be thankfull to the good guests of the hotel that were kind enough to let us in. Still, we couldn't get to our rooms or use the toilet. And the toilet... really noisy, more like a pneumatic drill that wakes everyone up. If you are coming when someone is there, it could be a really nice place to stay in but is it...
