So I have mixed views relating to my stay. Firstly the positives: the location- fantastic location just near Rossio metro station right in the center of Lisbon, the staff were all really friendly. The security- you can only get in via the intercom and there is always someone of the front desk to stop anyone from getting in who isn't a guest. |The negatives- the room had a bit of a fusty smell and was very basic. The private bathroom was very small with a tiny shower cubicle. Although there wasn't much noise outside at night within the hotel my room was right by the front desk and I heard the buzzer going off at numerous hours and the hotel staff speaking on the phone at numerous times throughout the night. My room wasn't cleaned on the first day, the second day I got home to find they had left my door wide open and the window onto the balcony wide open. Now luckily I'd locked my case before leaving otherwise anyone could have been through my bag. The bed was pretty uncomfortable and due a change. |All in all if you want somewhere cheap and accessible to all of the main sites to use just as a base I'd recommend it. Make sure you book the double room with private bathroom to have your...
Read moreThe little guest house in the traditional building seemed like a good idea. Location seemed good from other reviews. You may want To think twice about this one though. It indicates a private bath and states that the shower is in the room. It’s kind of a shower, but more like a small wall set up with water run from the hall to a shower handle and tiny pedestal sink. What they call a “private toilet” is a toilet in a common bathroom that all rooms share at the end of the hall. ||In our shower, the head had no mount, so you have to hold it the entire time you shower. The 2 foot square shower box has a drain, but while we were there it didn’t work. So the basin just filled with water until it was full, and then the water was caught by a secondary basin around the sink.||||When mentioning the drain, they said that’s just the way it is. Also, be ready for the smell of smoking in the room and very strong in the hallways. ||||With the convenient downtown location across from the train station it’s quite noisy at night. You can easily hear other people in the streets and coming out of the bars throughout the night as the walls are paper thin. ||||Good luck...
Read more100 yards from the very centre of Lisbon has to be a winner, far more central and felt very safe in the area walking home at night as 3 females. Our room was really clean and clean bedding and towels every day without fail. Bed was comfortable too and always hot water available. you can see the rooms from the pictures and they are not modern, but perfectly adequate. It has irritated me some of the reviews on here....people really need to rate somewhere that is relative to the money spent on the room, as it was a fraction of the price of other local hotels, and the description is absolutely accurate as are the pictures, and had they had new bathrooms and new furniture then it would have to charge more and this fabulous traditional and somewhat quirky property would not be available for this price. Friendly staff and happy to oblige looking after our luggage after checking out. I would not hesitate to stay here again, if you are not spending much time in your room and taxis, the money you save can be used for more expensive meals in roof top terraces and cocktail bars...
