The Hotel Métropole is in a very central location, overlooking the pretty Praça Dom Pedro IV piazza, about a 5 minute stroll from Rossio Metro Station. The hotel is surrounded by a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants and perfectly located both for walking and transport links. The hotel is undergoing a programme of restoration, but this did not adversely affect what was a wonderful stay. The warm welcome and speedy check-in was conducted by the extremely friendly and helpful Ricardo Pinto. He provided useful information about the hotel facilities, breakfast arrangements and local area. The room [341] was of an outstanding size and quality, with a spacious balcony affording breath-taking views over the square below. Everything in the extremely spacious room and bathroom were of an exceptional standard and quality: bed linen, furnishings, towels, robes, slippers, toiletries, Wi-Fi were all faultless. A mini-fridge contained complimentary mineral water which was replenished daily. There was also a regular supply of fresh fruit and Pastéis de Belém [delicious traditional pastries]. Breakfast was served in the dining room overlooking the piazza, and was fresh, tasty, varied and plentiful. This was a first visit to the magical city of Lisbon, made all the more memorable and enjoyable thanks to the truly wonderful Hotel Métropole. Recommended...
Read moreMy review is based on one week stay from November 26th to December 2nd. First of all, The staffs were great. Upon my check in, The staff on the front desk game me an half hour advice and useful tips of Lisbon, like a taking tram 12 (no wait time only 3 people on board), instead of 28 to get to the Castelo de S Jorge and Miradouro de Graca. take 15 E to go to Belem, etc , etc. The location is perfect in the middle of city center (Baixa) subway, trams , restaurants ,train stations, Funiculars A Super market is well located in walking distance. The breakfast is decent . But the down sides are a bit noisy in the night. During my stay , The park in front of hotel having Christmas fair, a lot of people plus The Rock Bands were playing music till midnight, If anybody who hates noise, then this place would not be for you. My room was on the back street side so it did not bother me so much. It is not 5 stars, but cozy relaxed property. I will recommend to anybody who wish to...
Read moreI spent 6 nights here and was wonderfully surprised by the standard despite it being listed as 3 star. Plusses:- spacious room & bathroom, air conditioning, bar fridge, storage, armchairs, dining room, breakfast choices, cleaning & wait staff, location, reception staff, room serviced each day, towels changed daily, comfortable bed, wifi connection Be mindful of:- entrance has a flight of stairs to navigate with luggage before you can access the lift, need to step into a high bath to access shower, no handrails or antislip mats, location is very central so do expect some traffic/delivery/emergency services/pedestrian noise (the levels did not disturb my sleep). Suggestions: signage in entry and lift indicating location of reception, improve the room door lock/ security, provide a functioning room safe.
I was very happy with the hotel and would gladly stay here again. Its location...
