The absolutely disgusting table waiter had a psychiatric event which disturbed everyone, simply because he brought me the wrong food. I originally had made my order, asked questions about the food, verified, and made the customisations I wanted. The whole time I waited for the food the other one stood on the stairs screaming across the restaurant with spit flying onto the tables below where customers sat eating. I ordered off the menu and did not receive the food I wanted. I was brought sausage and things I cannot eat. The salad didn't have the onions that I had requested. He cannot do his job taking orders and is a horrible waiter and danger to the public. Instead of offering to fix his mistake he wanted to fight me in the restaurant in front of everyone, so I just paid the criminals their money and left. I’ve been staying at the hostel opposite for three weeks and no matter where I go to eat I end up coming back here and am never disappointed. They’re the old reliable. Not all staff speak English but they all try and are mostly very sweet. There is one quintessential grumpy server but she’s part of the makeup of the place I ended up enjoying so much. It’s food is good the prices are great. Their pastel de natas rate amongst the rest of them plus they have a mini version so you don’t feel like a whale if you eat one every damn day. One of my pet hates is eating a rissóis de camarão and eventually coming across a single prawn. The rissóis de camarão at Bella Roma were packed with prawns and had a tasty slightly piquant sauce in a crisp case. Just how they should be.

But there were other reasons to choose it. The place was busy with locals getting their snacks and lunch, they always know were to go. We only had snacks, but they were great.

The service was super and very friendly, and the staff were also helpful in recommending where we could find some Broa de Avintes - The Mercado Bolhão, (which is as I write in temporary location whilst the main place is renovated).
