Traditional Qatari breakfast owned by a wonderful Qatari lady in Souq Waqif (first and only woman owned shop in Souq) . Large menu with a lot of simple dishes that is definitely worth trying to try out the local cuisine. The menu mainly focuses on Regag bread with different toppings (thin crepe like bread) and many egg items.
I recommend trying their egg & tomato topped with cream cheese as well as their eggs topped with cream cheese, that comes with a plate of piping hot fresh bread. Also try their Regag bread with eggs or for something sweet try it with cheese and honey, very light and very delicious. You can try their Balaleet (sweet vermicelli noodles with saffron and cardamom topped with eggs). Also they have some hearty dishes like minced meat and beans with tomato.
The owner is very sweet and she visited all the tables there to check on everyone's meal to make sure there is nothing wrong. She also sells homemade spices that are ready for your home cooked meals.

Read moreEvery time we ate at Bandar Aden, we looked at this place and wondered what was being served there. After looking at a video from a local foodie we decided to try this place for breakfast. Shai Shamoos did not disappoint.
If you are a fan of all things bread and all things egg, then this is the place for you. They have a wide variety of egg dishes mixed with tomatoes and cheese and thyme and mushrooms and the list goes on. Each one with it's own unique flavor. They have crunchy bread (regag) and soft saj and textures in-between.
For a family of 2 adults and one child we were able to have a great meal for around QR75. I believe the owner was one of the first women in Qatar to own a restaurant, so this place is steeped in history.
If you are in Souq Waqif and looking for an awesome experience, I would highly recommend...
Read moreAmazing place to go for a traditional Qatari breakfast in Doha. We went on a Friday morning at around 9am. The place was fairly busy but there was still a good choice of seats to choose from. The decor is traditional, modest and cozy and the staff were fairly attentive. There are lots of pictures around of all the different famous people that have been to the place including the Amir himself and the owner is a bit of a local legend. She even stepped out of the kitchen once the busy part of the shift was over to check that all her customers were happy. We asked for a selfie with her and she was only too happy to oblige.
The food was authentic and really nice and the value for money was even better. The menu has pictures of all the different types of food on offer so it's great for non Arabs as a guide to...
