This place is very uneven, and your experience may vary as a result. Some of the rooms are seemingly very good, but others leave a lot to be desired.
I stayed for three nights. My first nights were in a tiny room, hardly big enough to open my suitcase, on the top floor of building B. It's an old villa, and the top floor was seemingly subdivided using thin gypsum board in order to make four different rooms out of the space. The result is a cramped experience, and a noisy one: I could hear every breath, snort, fart, and snore coming from adjacent rooms, and the air conditioner and my headphones could not drown out the noise. I slept very poorly.
The room was furnished very awkwardly: the light switch was hidden behind the headboard, so I had to move the bed's headboard every time I wanted to turn the light on or off.
Some of the space was occupied unnecessarily by a "kitchenette" tucked in a cupboard; unfortunately, in my room, the refrigerator was not operational.
One additional annoyance was the lack of adequate outlets. There were just two in the bedroom, one accessible by unplugging the television, and there were no outlets in the bath.
The mattress in the bedroom felt thin and uncomfortable and was also rather noisy.
Hygienic standards and overall cleanliness was acceptable, but I thought I smelled cigarette smoke in the hallway, or possibly just a damp, stale smell. The room itself smelled okay, and I left a window open to air it out.
I had difficulty getting an adequate WiFi signal from my room, and to the host's credit, he consequently moved me to a different room, in Building A, where I had a much nicer night overall: better Internet, no noise from other guests practically on top of me, more room, as well as a better mattress.
If you book, select a nicer room, possibly one with a balcony; I think if you book an economy room you risk a bad experience.
I will also add that I am very fond of the neighborhood; it's a quiet, upscale area with some good restaurants and an excellent...
Read moreI don’t know why this place got such a high rating because it is quite the same as what you’d find on Khao San Road in Bangkok in 2010s where the only selling point is location. It is nothing like in the pictures - the rooms barely fit two people, god forbid them to have suitcases. Everything is dated and feels like the bathroom hasn’t changed much from the communist times. I’ve never seen a kitchen in a wardrobe but there you’ll find it, but be sure you won't find even an instant coffee or tea. The room didn’t have any blinds for the window and everything including the door handle is falling apart. Throughout our trip in Romania this has been the most underwhelming stay and I’m very happy it was short. Needless to say, there is no one to address, so it wasn’t easy for us to even to check-in, because instead of sending instructions the day before, like normal places do for those who might not be having cellular or wifi on the day of arrival they’ve sent those at 4pm so imagine trying to check-in at 9pm in front of closed gates with no network and nobody. I strongly advise against this place, it is...
Read moreGood price/value. The place is quiet at night, but there is decent traffic on the street during the day so it can get noisy.
In the premises there are 3 parking spots so you can check if any are available by texting the hosts. Parking on the street is paid from 8:00AM to 20:00PM (around 1€ per hour), but if you want a safe spot for your car you can try to use the underground parking of Athina Suites Hotel that is 2 min away on the same street for around 8€ per night (just ask in the reception).
This place is in walking distance to the center of Bucharest, only Palace of Parliament is a little bit far from there.
There are available brunch places and other...
