We booked a standard room with a view and we have received a room without a window!!! They told us, that they had to build a wall over it, because there is a bare next to the hotel and drunk people were nocking on the window. I did not care, we paid for a room with a window so I want one! But they did not have another room, they were fully booked. So we stayed there, because they will not refund us and the boss was out of country, so the receptionist could not reach him. ||The room was supposed to have 30m2, check the photo but I think it was much smaller, no AC, only fan, and the minibar was only an empty cabinet. Wifi does not work anywhere, not in the room, not in the reception, receptionist only said that he is on wifi and showed me a messages he was sending to somebody.||The room was clean, but that was it. It was really noise at night and full of cigarette smoke I think from the bar, but I do not know how it got in, if there was no WINDOW. So the rooms are definetly not soundproofed. ||The next day they bring us the breakfast (dry sandwich, orange juice, tea and unpacked 7days croissant) to the room. There was not table or chairs and I did not want to eat on my bed, so we had to eat at the reception.||The asked us if we want different breakfast next day, that they will make something for us, so we asked for a scrambled eggs, the receptionist/waiter look at me and said that they do not have a kitchen. How can a 4* hotel does not have a kitchen? ||Next we asked to print us a boarding pass, it was not possible to do it, because one receptionist said that the printer is broken, the next day they did not have a printer. ||When I asked why they put us in the garage, the receptionist laughet at my face that is not a garage, if I have never seen a room without a window, no, I have not, not in a 4* hotel, maybe in hostel for 10€/night. ||OK, next day they moved us to the room with window, but with same horrible breakfast, no AC, no minibar, only an empty fridge. We had a chairs where we could eat the breakfast, but they were so dirty, so we decided to eat again at the reception. And we had to go back to hotel, pack our stuff and move, that is not a thing I want to do on my holiday. ||We asked for a refund, but now it was not possible because we stayed 1 night, but the day before it was not possible to ask for a refund at all! The said that we can complain to booking.com, so I am very interesting what they will do and if they will continue to work with a hotel like this. ||This hotel has a 8 rooms in total, 5 room are Standard rooms and 2 of them are without window, so there is a 40% change that you will get a room without window, please be careful and book...

We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon on 20.1, made a check-in and went for a walk in the city. During check-in, a lovely girl helped us.||When they entered the hotel immediately we noticed in the stairwell there are many signs on the walls and there are broken walls. Since we weren't looking for a fancy hotel but a homey hotel and a nice place to sleep we didn't care.||||The next morning we woke up at 9am and went down to reception asking if we could do a late checkout. We were told to come later because the guy at the reception didn't speak English well.||||When we checked out at about 11:00, we went down the stairs at the hotel with our luggage, the hall is very narrow and very difficult to pass with luggage.||||One of us got down with his suitcase and she touched a curtain that fell to the floor and hit him.||||When we arrived at the reception we checked out, left our luggage at the hotel and went for a walk (it was our last day in Romania). About an hour later, we received an e- mail from Booking (attached with a picture of the e-mail), and the e-mail stated that we had caused damage and that we had to pay 2500 ley.||||Called me from the hotel a very nice girl and asked me to come over so we could talk, we drove to the hotel to quickly understand what happened.||||The hotel called police and treated us like we were criminals.||The girl at the hotel claims that we caused damage to the entire hotel with our suitcases and that we now have to pay for it. (Attached to email photos and videos)||||During my statement to the policeman, he said he understood that it did not make sense that we had caused damage to the entire hotel (even on the last floor even though we were not there) and that the amount the hotel is requesting is indescribable but cannot do anything about it since it is only there to take a statement.||||I want to say that the staff at the hotel when the police arrived were very nice and treated us like we were criminals.||The manager talked to me and told me that she had painted all the stairs and walls in the hotel a week before we arrived even though when we arrived we noticed that everything looked bad.||I asked her how it made sense that she painted the walls a week ago and we did all this damage if you see from the beginning that this damage was done a long time ago and not related to us.||||The lady wasn’t nice at all, she spoke in Romanian that we not understanding her, and made us realize that she was not willing to listen to us and she wanted to fix the hotel at our expense.||||We went to the police station to fill out a statement and file a complaint...

I would NOT recommend for some serious reasons. Please read in detail.

Where do I start? This place does not look like a hotel and gives off a super creepy Hostel (the movie, 2005) vibe. It's on the first floor of an old building and for the duration of our stay there (24 h) we did not see a single other guest.

The reception area if you can call it that, is a makeshift desk in the middle of a large old room where there was barely ever anyone apart from the most inopportune times (See below).

10 minutes before check-in time (14:00) a guy cleaning what later transpired to be our room in a leather motorcycle jacket went somewhere else on the same floor and spoke with someone (?) only to come back and tell us that the room was not ready yet. He literally finished cleaning and gave us the room at 14:02 when we had already come and left our things there 2 h before and told them we would be coming back at 14:00 sharp.

Bear in mind that most reviews seem to be describing the same one room, the room RIGHT NEXT to the reception desk. So I highly suspect that is the one and only room this "hotel" has. Like a number of hotels in Bucharest it might have 4 or 3 stars depending on where you look.

The room itself was large and seemingly recently refurbished (although in a garish style) but the bathroom had no window or extraction fan with all the implications that has. The outside window (there were two layers of windows) was patched up with tape.

When we walked out of the room, the "receptionist" was sitting RIGHT OUTSIDE our door on a sofa, reading something... I also found it very strange this was the only "hotel" where they asked for both our passports, not just the one on the booking, and they also asked us to complete a long form with many irrelevant details (place of birth etc).

Downstairs, we saw a couple entering an unmarked room that was not part of the hotel, then they came out after us and we noticed them a couple of times in the centre of town where we were. In the night, there were people chatting outside our door.

Suffice it to say, we didn't sleep that night. Even stranger, somehow I left an "exceptional" review on the platform where I booked this "hotel." (never done that and have reported this as a fake review).

None of this felt safe in any kind...

Sorry, but this is not good enough! The hotel is part of the old Stock Exchange Palace, and has a touch of old greatness with marble columns, high ceilings, tapestries, ceiling paintings and so on. You feel a bit of a time travel. The reception is well worth visiting for it's interior, and is for a reason perfumed. The hotel could have been a real gem in the old city, but is poorly maintained. The interior is not restored, but refurbished to look authentic. The quality of the work varies. The entrance on ground floor, though being of impressive dimensions, looks dirty and worn. The lift didn't work when we arrived, so we had to walk up to the reception on the (high) 1. floor. A hard exercise for my 78-year old mother-in-law. Rooms: The doors to the French balcony appeared to be falling apart soon. There was a kettle for boiling water, but no cups. Spiderwebs in bedroom and bathroom. Furniture with nicks and flaking paint. The soap dispenser in the shower fell apart upon touch. No working wifi. No air condition. No breakfast options. And, worst of all: The stench of sewage and mold. It probably came from the drain in the bathroom, and spread throughout the room. You could not rest or work. We had paid for two rooms and three nights, but left after the first, and checked in at another hotel. PS! They advertise with possibilities for pick-up at the airport but that will not happen.

This church and monastery - perhaps the most strikingly beautiful in Bucharest - was built in 1724 at the insistence of a Greek monk, Ioanikie Stratonikeas. It is characterized by its beautiful stone and wood carvings, of which the finest are on the main doors. The courtyard outside (beautiful on a sunny afternoon) has a curious collection of tombstones dating from the 18th century, and you might often see skilled craftsmen working on restoring them. Bucharest's most impressive bookshop is this wonderful building on Strada Lipscani. Dating from the latter part of the 19th century the building was home to a department store during the communist era, before standing neglected for almost a quarter of century until reopening a couple of years ago after a long renovation. And what a renovation: the building has been brought back to life by Carturesti's team of architects and is that impressive that even if you are not in the market for any books, you must pop in to have a look. It is also perhaps the only shop in Bucharest where the staff do not tell you off for taking photos: indeed, it's positively encouraged. Besides the tens of thousands of books and gifts on sale there is gallery and exhibition space, and a rather good bistro on the top floor serving fresh, tasty food with plenty for vegetarians.

We booked this hotel at the very last minute as our airbnb host forgot about us so for that I am grateful. The price was pretty much the same to our airbnb. We had a bit of a challenge finding the actual entrance to the hotel because its not correctly marked on the map. Unfortunately, while we were relieved to have a roof over our head and were mesmerised by the glamorous building decor at first, our stay was not the best. First of all, there was construction work across the road and the room was so hot you couldn't really keep the windows closed at night. This meant you would be woken up by drilling at 7-8 in the morning. The heat was expected and we just accepted it and there was a small fan in the room but it was pretty much useless. There were also a lot of mosquitos I couldn't track down and I woke up two or three times in the middle of the night (out of five nights) to realise I'd been bitten. The room and the building itself was beautiful and I could buy into the vintage antique furniture feel but it also felt really dusty and cheaply decorated.
