Centeral Hostel — Hotel in Tverskoy District

The decoration of the rooms is done with taste. Elegant modern Nordic country style. The beds are comfortable (which is often difficult to find). The staff is really nice and helpful. The location is central.||However, many drawbacks of this hotel made my one night stay very unpleasant. The very high price I paid (20.000 RUR / 273€) for one night and one room implies flawless service and amenities. And this was definitely not the case. I understand that I stayed there in the World Cup period. But Marriott Courtyard Paveletskaya had a double room for the same price. So if you set a price so high you have to meet the standards of that level.||The place is actually a hostel of which the 5th (and last floor) was refurbished or upgraded to a hotel. The fourth floor is still a hostel.||The entrance is that of a regular building and needs refreshing. To get to the elevator you have to go half a floor up using the staircase. A small and shabby elevator takes you to the fourth floor. You have to continue one floor up by foot. Very inconvenient for luggage.||They ask for a deposit of 1000 RUR in cash upon arrival. I didn’t have cash. Since they were not equipped to take the deposit with the credit card the manager accepted not to take a deposit.||The room I got was very small. Just enough space for the 2 beds and the night table plus the entrance space that is not more than 2 square meters big. The bath room is tiny. All in all the feeling of confinement is enhanced by the fact that the room is under the roof.||All rooms have air conditioning but there is only one remote control for all rooms. You borrow the remote from the reception and bring it back after setting the air conditioning in your room. So you have to decide if you want to turn the air conditioner on or not and also decide which temperature you want before going to bed. If you change your mind you have to go out and get the remote control from the reception. All rooms are on one floor and the reception is not far. I decided to turn off the air conditioning and sleep with open window. The manager agreed to exceptionally unlock the window for me.||There was no hot water in my room for a shower before going to bed. I informed the reception and said that I expected the problem to be solved for the next morning. Next morning at 7:30 the water was still cold so I couldn’t take a shower.||The manager suggested I go and take a shower in the hostel a floor below. Of course I refused and explained they could not ask a person on a business trip and running out of time to do that.||I asked for a discount explaining that this is was the least they could do. After a bit of reticence from the receptionist, a younger inexperienced lady, the manager who is a cooperative and reasonable person, offered a refund of 3000 RUR. I asked for 5000 RUR which he accepted.||I still think that despite the 5000 RUR refund the room was overpriced.||I am not writing this note out of frustration but to inform all travelers what to expect and as a constructive criticism to the manager so he can improve...

My wife and I stayed at Hostel Bolshoi in Moscow for 4 nights. We usually don’t stay at hostels, but we made the exception because the hostel was cheap and located in the city centre. We got ourselves two beds in a 14-bed dormitory. The overall experience was good and I would totally recommend this hostel to my friends. ||||The good things:||||Staff is super friendly and helpful. They all speak excellent English.||The location is superb. 15-minute walk to the Red Square and right around the corner from Lavka Brat’ev Karavaevikh, a small café/bakery with delicious food and excellent prices. ||Everything was very clean, from bathrooms to kitchen and common areas. ||Lots of power sockets and great WiFi.||Comfy beds with drapes for privacy. Each bed has its own lamp and a couple of power sockets.||Free lockers (no need for locks as you can lock it with a key).||Many toilets. I didn’t have to wait once to use the bathroom.||Spacious and well-equipped kitchen (stove, microwave, two large fridges, two sinks, sandwich toaster).||||The not too good things:||||*Like in most hostels in Moscow, a couple of people seem to live there and sleep in the dorms. They are friendly and will never get in your way, but they have their own schedules with bizarre hours and sometimes they can make too much noise during the early hours of the morning or turn the light on while the rest of us are sleeping. To be fair this happens in most hostels...

Лето 2016. Контингент слегка инопланетный и все происходящее в этой квартире-хостеле напоминает свою атмосферку на борту космического корабля. Много иностранцев. Хостел прекрасно всем оснащен. Админы не всегда сидят на ресепшене и выданный код домофона на бумажке не забывайте чтобы потом попасть вовнутрь. Я почувствовал себя здесь немного отчужденно. Разительно отличается публика тут и в обычных хостелах. Гости тут ценящие комфорт. От некоторых исходил некий снобизм и даже какое-то пренебрежение ко мне как к затесавшемуся на борт этого корабля левому хрену какому-то с горы. Не везде есть видеонаблюдение. Хорошие кровати. Чемодан под кровать поместился легко. Вероятность воровства - 5-10 % из 100, хорошая публика. Локеры. Относительно тихо после 23:00 /00:00. Ценник - 840 за 6-местный. Этаж между 3 и 4. Есть лифт. Достаточное количество туалетов и хорошие чистые ванные. Приятная уборщица. За сам хостел ставлю 4 из 5. За всю остальную субъективщину - 3-3,5 из 5. На вкус и цвет, но хостел весьма хорош. Большинство хостелов в Москве идут по 750 р. Доплатив 100-ку, вы получаете нормальную среду обитания. Гостей, которые ценят свой комфорт и по большей части, старающиеся не нарушить ваш. В этом хостеле неудобно место которое самое близкое к гостинной, там где стоит телевизор. Именно оттуда доносятся блокбастеры за 23 ч. некоторые вольности гости себе позволяют все таки, тут не кинотеатр, но после оповещения администратора, громко работающий телевизор был и вовсе выключен, что порадовало. Поверху каркаса кровати заметил ползающих клопов / клещей, и чувствовал как по телу бегают мелкие, мошкоподобные. Либо это летнее явление, либо сигнальчик о том, что тут нужна дезинфекция, администраторы сказали что знают, и этим вопросом как раз сейчас озабочены, фидбэк последовал и с пониманием. Так что все в принципе ок. В комнате где я жил поселился сосед храпящий и стало не очень и сосед который спал надо мной, оказалось что постоянник тут и у него попахивали ноги. Вот такая миксология. Из случайных приехавших храпящих и постоянных с дурным запахом ног, возможно не вполне благополучных, ибо по моему скромному убеждению у людей с престижной работой, устроенных по жизни и следящих за своей гигиеной - ноги не воняют как у джумшутиков. Ну это так, к слову. Стал думать про сохранность личных вещей. Сосед этот - постоянник, решил наверное сэкономить на аренде квартиры в Москве и жил в хостеле. Мда. Но все равно это хороший хостел. И стирка очень по-божески стоит: всего 100 рублей. Итак, из основных минусов я выделю: Ненадежность локеров. Их непродуманная конструкция, которая уступает некоторым другим примерам локеров в других хостелах. Клоповник. Обещали что вызовут и уже вызвали службу, которая избавляет их от клопов время от времени, но так она и не доехала. Как то раз нужно было поменять деньги. И пошел в сторону м. Цветной Бульвар в отделение Сбера. Выходя из Сбера заметил ползущего красного клопа у меня на плече. Не знаю, может он у меня в волосах на голове прижился пока я шел. Но после этого принял твердое решение воздержаться от проживания в этом хостеле. Контингент / шумность / атмосфера / общение с админами. Контингент все же не такой пушистый. Хостел не объединяет, в нем нет атмосферы праздника и дружелюбия. Хостел не настраивает всех сидеть и общаться в гостинной или на кухне. Все живут обособленно аки мухи в сонном царстве. Всё же не то. Ну не та атмосферка, не тот эффект, когда хостел можно назвать блистательным. Этот хостел хорош во многом и общением с админами, и кроватями с хорошими матрасами и оплатой по карте и хорошими чистыми душевыми. Но не серьезными вопросами, ведь счастье не в том что я перечислил выше. А в ощущении приятности нахождения в хостеле, вопросах безопасности личных вещей и отсутствии клопов. Также в любом жилом помещении есть фактор фоновых шумов, энергетики, уровня электромагнитного излучения, комфортной изоляции этого хостела от внешнего мира, от лишнего шума / свиста, лишних звуков, ощущение покоя в комнате. В этом хостеле есть фон / звуковое загрязнение.
