... unless you wanna crash for few hours or one night, and want cheaper place. This is not the cheapest one around. But this could be the most unfriendly and inconsiderate hostel. I arrived very early on Monday, about 5am from Budapest! I understand that I cannot checkin until 12. But the staff did not let me use the bathroom. He said there are not common bathrooms, the bathrooms are in the rooms. He cannot let me in the rooms. I understand that due to security reasons they should not allow people who are not staying in, inside the rooms. But i made reservation for that day and and 2 nights. Plus i remember seeing the pictures of common rooom and read about common toilet. The dude working there in the morning lied to extent that he said he goes out to use the toliet. He goes some other place because he cannot use the toilet in the rooms.||||I really wanted to use the bathroom while i am here to store my backpack and wander around the city. But that dude simply showed how inconsiderate person he is.||||Then later when i came to checkin at around 12, I see the girl at the reception is another example that she hasnt seen people from the third world country as a traveller. Short replies, uninteretsed, and vague answers for even the payment. I am told to pay in local currency. And their conversion is simply to rob the money. I ended up paying more than the reasonable conversion rate for the local currency from Euros. She informed me that the check out is at 10am and I cannot hang out more than 1 hour in the hostel. I can leave my backpack. I clarifed if I can stay in the common area after the checkout from the room at 10am, and she said NO. I was quite surprised by this answer and this rule.||||Later in the evening I asked another receptionist who seemed more knowledgable, She clarified that I could longer. May be the other receptionist does not the rules. So there were inconsiderate and ignorant staff.||||On top of allthis, there is no atmosphere or environment in the hostel. Seemed like a dead town. ||||This place looks great in the pictures but waste of money and time. My first experience of Serbia was not good because of the first person the staff I interacted after getting from the bus. ||||It seemed inhuman and inconsiderate to not let to use the essential facilities to their...
Read moreThis hostel is located on the Savski square, where the old train station is. But this is no longer operational; trains now run from a new place, 5 minutes away by bus. ||This is where the hostel loses some of its appeal. ||||The ambiance was somewhat charged, as migrants were not adding to a travel feel. I felt somewhat too observed by some of them. ||||Staff was nice. With nice I don't necessarily mean 'friendly', but rather 'agreeable' and 'personable'. I in turn felt compassionate for their plight. I don't mean to reflect bad on the hostel's amenities or staff, but rather the ambiance.||||The desk girl was friendly but was new at the job, so me needing to get to Bucharest was a tall order for her to advise me on. She was helpful in making arrangements though.||Also, the hostel was flexible and understanding about the cancellation I was forced to make for my last night.||||btw||From Belgrade, you get to Bucharest...
Read moreThe hostel is close to the bus/train station. That's the most positive thing I can say. The "kitchen" is a microwave, a fridge and a coffee machine for which you could buy capsules at the reception. Don't expect to cook properly here. The doors in the toilet don't lock properly and the shower cabin has a GLASS door. No privacy. The 8-bed dorms are incredibly narrow, you can't enter when someone uses their locker. Very cheap though but if you plan to stay for several days rather book...
