Cafe Marina — Restaurant in Bratislava

We had breakfast here and the price to quality ratio was completely off. We ordered an avocado toast and eggs hollandaise. Avocado toast was two cheap white, either untoasted or very slightly toasted pieces of toast bread stacked on each other with cut chunks of avocado thrown all over the plate, two poached eggs and badly made hollandaise sauce. 9-10€. The other dish was the same, but without avocado and with ham. 13€. Bad quality coffee, cappuccino in the wrong cup and size. I'm born local, who is used to high prices from where I currently live and I don't mind paying for quality, but I don't understand how they can justify this. Not even actual bread. The decision to stack two breads on top of each other is utterly confusing. Also, I don't understand why make hollandaise, which is known to be a very hard sauce to make when you don't know how to master it. Theirs was too sour, the chef needs to go easy on the lemon. Also, who ever heard of avocado toast without the avocado actually being mashed onto the toast? One thing that was done well were the poached eggs. The seasoning was also off. Your chef needs more training or you need to adjust your prices to the quality you are offering. The prices would be okay after some adjustments to the dishes, the bread should be a solid sourdough, well toasted, avocado should be more ripe and properly mashed, with not sour hollandaise, well seasoned, the ham quality could be higher, there could be a small side salad/garnish, a few cherry tomatoes, a drizzle of olive oil, better quality...

The rudest, obnoxious waiter I encountered by far!! If i can give 0 stars, I would! Bad attitude. The whole interaction was just unpleasant. As soon as we sat down he came asking what we want to order. My husband which is Slovak, said we need time to pick. He rolled his eyes, walked away mumbled said why didn’t you pick while you’re outside! What on earth?! When we finally ordered, he never responded with any kind of nice words! No nod, no thank you, no nothing just like didn’t care instead he looked so annoyed that we even came there! Wir sind an einem Samstag morgen hier gelandet, um vor unserer Abfahrt am Hauptbahnhof um die Ecke zu frühstücken und etwas Zeit totzuschlagen. Frühstück gab es. Die Auswahl war recht breit gefächert und wurde frisch in der Küche zubereitet. So denke ich auch, dass obwohl es nicht viele vegetarische varianten gab, z. B. das Rührei ohne Schinken zubereitet hätte werden können. Die Preise sind recht teuer und im Vergleich zur Konkurrenz enttäuschend. Vor allem, weil unklar ist wo dieses Geld dann bleibt. Das Essen war in Ordnung aber in keinster Weise überragend. Der Kaffe stark aber recht schmackhaft. Die Atmosphäre leider sehr uneinheitlich und etwas düster. Für die versucht schicke aufmachung scheitert es an den frilligen Tischdecken und dünnen Servietten. Die größte Überraschung war jedoch leider der Service. Die Dame war schon recht einsilbig, als wir ins Bistro kamen, was ich zunächst niemanden vorwerfen würde. In der Tat hat sie sich dann im Laufe unseres Aufenthalt nach freundlichem Bemühen von unserer Seite auch etwas gefangen. Aber als wir sie, nach längerem warten, unsere Absicht klar machen konnten gerne zu gehen, passierte etwas unerwartetes. Obwohl wir beide unübersehbar unsere Portmonais auf dem leeren Tisch hatten, kam sie nur zu einer von uns mit dem ausgestreckten Kartengerät. Als wir dann freundlich darum baten, die Rechnung zu teilen, stöhnte sie geradezu vor Frust auf, und ließ auch weiterhin durch regelmäßige Seufzer klar werden, wie sehr wir ihren Alltag behindern. In der Tat musste sie zurück zum Computer und etwas löschen, was sicher unpraktisch ist. Aber sich so vor Kunden zu verhalten ist unmöglich. als ich dann meinen Teil bezahlen wollte ging dies nur mit Karte, und ein automatisches Trinkgeld von ungefähr 10% war schon aufgerechnet.
