We have booked 3 rooms last weekend (6/7 Oct2018). Room 7 had no water for bath tap unit! Shower hot water tap keeps falling out . The showerhead was leaking extremely and was directing towards the corner area of shower unit so you had to force yourself into the one corner to rinse soap from your body ~ we were too scared to re adjust is because the head was leaking. Toilet roll was on 10% on arrival we had to collect another 1 at reception. Although coffee and tea sachets are available in room, which is a room for 2. Only 1 cup and saucer available and NO teaspoon ! I had to stir my coffee with empty coffee sachet. No plug near kettle so one needs to unplug fridge and move kettle to at least get it to boil water.
Another room no showerhead at all just an open pipe! The small chair in the room was broken and upholstery extremely dirty! The carpet appears to had a bad/dirty spot or it was burned before! One window with no curtains? Also no teaspoon in the room.
The steps to upper level is having metal strips which poses great risk as it tends to hook into your shoes! At 8 am Sunday morning there were still various broken glass bottles on paving which were of great risk for vehicle tyres. Despite the fact that we requested staff to remove nothing was done, I personally took a broom and swept is away. I have noticed various light fitting hanging half loose from ceilings, this is danger as it could electrified guest house or drop on someone head. Loose tree branches hanging from trees which could easily drop on a guest vehicle creating damages!
The breakfast was served from a kitchen which curtains are so dirty we have decided to buy breakfast somewhere else in Pretoria. Food is prepared in a small area on the back of the building and carried to lapa/open dining room area at swimming pool.
This guest house is perfectly situated it is a shame that the upkeep of this nice jewel is badly neglected!!!!!!
• There are a number of areas where dirt from weeks back could be noticed on window frames etc. • The entire paintwork of the building appears to be in a bad stage of repair • The fire equipment is overdue for service, expired Aug2018 !
Management/owner needs to step up and get this place on standard, this place is far below standard and not good advertisement for our tourism.
We do not recommend
The least this guest house can do is to refund us 100% for this poor/bad...
Read moreI'm not the type that likes to complain. Accommodation experiences depend on your personal preferences. So I'm going to try and write this as objectively as possible and you can make up your own mind.||||If you were hoping for any kind of garden or greenery whatsoever, forget this place.||If you are planning to work and need a stable (non-wobbly) desk at which to do so, well, at least ask for it because non-wobbly desks don't come standard.||If you think that adding R50 to your daily rate in order to get a full English breakfast should mean you get to sit in a dining room (not in the hallway / passage at a 4-seater table), maybe this is not the place for you.||Also if you think this breakfast should not arrive lukewarm, with the yolk of the egg broken and cooked until powdery, and with cling wrap over, or if you wanted brewed coffee instead of Ricoffy and a sugar bowl with old sugar crusted on the sides, consider some other place. ||If you want to be told that you need to pay the full amount up front (instead of finding that out when you're tired and hungry and arriving at your hotel) - well, now I've told you, so I guess you don't need to write this place off.||If you don't like to hear every word, phone call, and line from the movie the receptionist is watching in the evening and early morning, definitely don't choose room number 7 which is just above the reception area. Maybe the other rooms are better. I did ask her to turn the movie down and she did, but she couldn't turn the ringing of the phone or the speaking of newly arrived guests down. It's just a badly designed layout.||If you would not like to stay at a place where a previous guest (me) asked to borrow the microwave in the kitchen, discovered insects crawling over microwave and kettle, and was told nonchalantly by the receptionist that they are cockroaches, maybe Henry George guest house is not the place for you.||||That's my experience. ||There are some good aspects... the bedding etc is perfectly clean... the cupboard, though the shelves are of uncoated pressed wood, is clean... the bathroom seems newly refurbished. So if that's all you want - go for it. I've told you the specific things that may...
Read moreThe guest house was visited in November 2015. We arrived at night and only to find out we were given rooms which we did not requested during the bookings. It's like they don't even keep a record of what the guest requested for, they just give out rooms to whoever checks in first. When we explain to the receptionist that we are not happy about this, he just said "you will have to manage it". We stayed in room 2, OMG the curtain rails are about to fall, the bathroom window stay is broken, the shower taps falls off when you open the tap, the TV did not work, what a terrible experience. ||The breakfast was worse, you are never asked how you would like your eggs. No....you find everthing prepared already, boiled egg, vienna, OMG that colour, I couldn't eat it and the bacon, oh my...you find the plate wrapped in plastic on a table for four, the table was so small you can hardly place everything on it. The apples were not fresh. The lady serving the breakfast was not even wearing uniform.||||When we checked out, we informed the receptionist that the tv did not work and oh my...she was not helpfull at all instead she was so defensive and saying that it worked "people who checked out a previous day were watching it". ||||The place needs proper management and staff needs to be trained. I wouldn't advise people to stay there, myself I will never go there even if i'm stranded, i'll rather...
