Haus am Strand — Hotel in George

On first impressions the place was perfect. Lovely views and a great size room. Unfortunately after a few days the cracks began to show. The road on which the house sits is extremely busy including all night. We were constantly awoken early in the mornings The lady host I found to be very ignorant and only really interested in her fellow German guests. She really did not make us feel welcome The servicing of the room was poor. Constant no toilet rolls ect . Lastly the constant power outages were a real problem. There was only two candles provided which read frankly pathetic given the technology available. The owner said it wasn’t her fault which may well be, but the lack of investment to avoid such issues was very apparent. There wasn’t even any emergency lighting outside just total darkness. Lots of other hotels/guest houses further up the coast have these provisions at a similar nightly cost. Avoid as there is...

This is truly one of the best boutique guest houses in one of the most beautiful places in Wilderness. The service could not be better. We were welcomed with open arms, the rooms are well stocked with the essentials like coffee, tea, milk etc. The kitchenettes available have every necessary appliance and utensils. The rooms are incredibly clean and beautifully decorated. The bathrooms have jacuzzi baths and a shower. There are a few great extra features as well. A well balanced bookshelf, a smart TV with the works, great wifi, a communal braai area with awesome outdoor seating and music and plenty of extra blankets for the weather. The absolute best part though, is the extraordinary view from each room. The lawn outside has plenty of sunbathing chairs, tables and is the best place to soak up the sun and enjoy the ocean which is just a few short feet away....

WOW!!!! What a beaut of a place. A real gem. Where do I start? Great location. Straight on the beach and walking distance to local restaurants. Warmly greater by Nick and Mike, both very attentive and couldn't do enough to make our stay any more pleasurable.

The reception and communal area was instantly calming with some very quirky features that really catch the eye. Out front there are plenty of sun lounges with access to the beach from mature gardens.

We stayed in the ocean room. The views over the ocean are unreal whilst lying in bed sipping coffee.

What stood out for me was the cleanliness and high standards this gem oozes. Everything was spotless and the attention to detail was unbelievable. Real perfection.
