Worst experience so far. In short... so most unfriendly waiter ever - food wasn't that great - food poisoning as a bonus.

Cosy looking place with the balconies and the trees and judging by most reviews it should be a good place. I and my girlfriend have been here on January the 3rd. It was busy so you know you have to wait for food a bit longer.

The waiter came and didn't say hello or anything, he started by quickly reporting everything on the menu that is not available anymore. All in a very unwelcoming annoying way. After a minute or so he came back. We barely had a look at the menu and he said annoyed 'I NEED DRINKS'!! We looked at each other kinda surprised by the attitude of the waiter and ordered two Corona's.

After that, we already wanted to leave, but the menu looked promising and we reserved a table because it's the Holiday season and everything was packed. So unfortunately we stayed.

The waiter came back to take our order, unfortunately, his mood didn't get any better. My girlfriend took the venison potjie (poi-key) and I ordered the springbok burger, for starters we ordered the chili poppers and some tap water. He replied, again in his rude manner, you'll have to wait 1 hour and your starters will be served with your main dish.

So after a while, we got the tap water, still no Corona's though. After 40 min or so I said to the waiter 'I know it's busy, but could we please have our Corona's now'. He replied by saying that we didn't order any Corona's, only tap water.

After more than an hour we got our food. We didn't mind the wait at all, because we wanted to have a nice long evening at this cosy place anyway. The food was below standard though, the potje tasted like a canned food version. The burger patty was tiny and not great either, the fries were way too salty. The chili poppers tasted very good though. Before finishing my burger I already had this very stuffed feeling, like the food wasn't going past my stomach. Before I was quite hungry and didn't eat much during the day so I continued eating anyway. That night I found out why the food wasn't going anywhere. Vomited all night and felt sick for 3 days.

We didn't want to post a review at first, but this was our worst...

An Underwhelming Start at Blue Olive

I recently dined at Blue Olive, a restaurant known for its unique culinary offerings, including ostrich carpaccio. While I was excited to try this dish, my initial experience left me somewhat disappointed.

Ostrich Carpaccio (2/5): My main reason for choosing Blue Olive was to sample their ostrich carpaccio. However, the dish did not live up to my expectations. The ostrich carpaccio did not taste as fresh as it should have. It appeared to be sourced from a sealed vacuum bag, presumably from Gastro Ricomondo, which may have contributed to its lack of freshness. Ostrich carpaccio, when done right, should be a delicacy with a tender and vibrant flavor. Unfortunately, this dish fell short of that mark, leaving me wanting more in terms of quality and freshness.

While I was not entirely impressed with my first experience, I am willing to give Blue Olive another chance in the hopes that the next visit will yield a more satisfying culinary adventure. It’s possible that other items on their menu may shine, and I’m eager to explore those options in the future.

In conclusion, my initial visit to Blue Olive was underwhelming due to the quality of the ostrich carpaccio. However, I believe that every restaurant deserves a second chance, and I will return to sample other dishes and hopefully discover a more delightful...

Once seated upstairs, given menus and then completely ignored by waitrons. Eventually called a downstairs waiter over, and asked for service. Placed drinks order with Jared, all good. Our assigned waitress took food order and yes, completely wrong. Send back for only chip side order, which arrived well after lunch was consumed. Spoke to manager, excuses were it was a runner who served our table, it was shift change for waitrons. These should be communicated to customers, so patience and maybe 3 or 4 repeat of order can be given and make sure the orders are written down and correct. 3 tables left whilst we were waiting to be served, due to lack of service. Lately some in the hospitality service industry put excuses and blame to be carried by the patron, whom in turn pay for meal and leave with a bitter taste in the mouth. Overall, lovely setting, Jared went out of his way to rectify the unfortunate incident. It's overall a lovely setting, and well worth ordering off the tapas menu. Today could have been just a once off unfortunate incident and will definitely go back for...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Blue Olive Restaurant in Wilderness, South Africa, three times over the last couple of days, and I can confidently say that it was an exceptional experience each time. The service was warm and attentive, making me feel truly welcomed. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The ambiance was just perfect, offering a cozy yet elegant atmosphere that made every meal feel special. Overall, the Blue Olive is a gem in Wilderness, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.

It was a pleasant experience this morning to eat at this cute restaurant. The music and the privacy of trees almost made the trafic next to the resturaunt disapear. The half an hour wait seemed to compliment the quality of the food and the care of their placement. The staff was kind and helpful and they brought exactly the food and drinks that we asked for, with the consideration that some of the staff might have been there with less experience. I would like to go again to find their lunch and dinner menus.

Looking for the best breakfast in town? This is it! My husband & I recently visited Wilderness for a few days. One morning, before we left our AirBnB, we asked the owners if they could suggest a good spot for breakfast/brunch. They said that Blue Olive had the best breakfast in town, & they didn't lie... I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Salmon & my husband got the Chicken Livers - both were amazing! Perfectly cooked, tasty & presented beautifully! Loved the atmosphere & décor & the staff was friendly.
