The Old Post Office Lodge — Hotel in George

I really looked forward to staying with this establishment. However, disorganization by the people that run it has turned it into a place I would recommend people stay away from. Things like having to ask for towels and toilet paper are annoying. Being woken up at 7am in the morning by staff member filling a bin with wood right in front of you if frustrating. However, the single worst experience is that no one seems to no exactly how to run the place. On the Friday when we arrived we were told that we could settle the bill on our way out. However, the very next the day the owner, who wasn't there on the first day, asked us with a very crude letter that we still owe the money and that it should have been payed on day 1. Same thing with drinks we ordered on the night to be delivered to the room. Was told that it could be covered when we settle the bill, yet the very next morning at breakfast the waiter basically told us off for not settling the bill the previous night.

I wouldn't recommend this place at all, especially at the prices. If you need a quick one nighter, then yes, it's perfect and convenient. However, if you need a place for a proper holiday, stay away. There are many...

We recently stayed at this place and we found a large amount of mite looking insects crawling all over the bed and us. When asking the receptionist he told us there was nothing he could do and that we'd just have to deal with it for the night. We had to book a new hotel and even when coming back the next day the sheets were still swarmed with mites EVEN though they were remade by the maid. The people working there were friendly but theyre working more for the restaurant downstairs than the hitel. The second room we got had no ac and the hot water in the showers is sporadic at best. We did get a fraction of our first night refunded but a room with mites in it is worth nothing to a customer. They also keep saying that it was our fault for leaving the door open which is just...

Niet blij hoe sommige dingen hier zijn verlopen. Ik had geboekt voor 2 nachten, maar omdat ik het fijn vond in Wilderness gevraagd om 2 nachten bij te boeken. Dit kon en ik mocht op dezelfde kamer blijven. Ik baalde van de vrouw die daar poetste. Ik heb om andere handdoeken moeten vragen. Er was geen toilet papier op voorraad. Ook vond ik dat ze niet goed poetste. Prullenbak niet verschonen, beddengoed is vies. Het kan anders. Ze vroeg mij ook elke morgen als ze mij zag lopen of ze de kamer al mocht poetsen, waardoor ik mij steeds opgejaagd voelde om van de kamer af te gaan. Terwijl ik gewoon bordje op had gehangen dat ze mij nog niet mocht storen en als ik klaar was hing ik het bordje om dat ze kon poetsen.

Vandaag spande de kroon. Ik ben op tijd opgestaan om te ontbijten en de manager beneden te vragen of ik wat later kon uitchecken omdat ik vanmiddag pas om 15uur werd opgehaald met de bus om naar een andere plek te gaan. Dit was geen probleem en ik mocht 12uur uitchecken. Hier was ik blij om. Later in de ochtend stond deze manager op de deur te kloppen of ik niet eerder wilde gaan, want er zouden eerder gasten komen. Aangeven dat ik mijn was nog moest ophalen bij de wasserij maar dat ik zou zorgen dat ik 11.30uur weg zou zijn. Terwijl het in de ochtend nog prima was dat ik 12uur zou vertrekken. Rond 11.15uur toen ik bezig was met inpakken stond er weet iemand op de deur te bonzen. Het was Magda, de andere manager die mij op niet vriendelijke wijze te kennen gaf dat ik moest opschieten omdat er andere gasten zouden komen. Ik probeerde haar uit te leggen dat ik afspraak had gemaakt met de andere manager en dat ik mij daar aan zou houden. Ik werd nog niet mijn kamer uit gebonjourd ,waardoor ik mijn spullen snel snel heb in moeten pakken. Magda heeft een hautaine, arrogante houding. Ik heb het verblijf daar dan ook niet prettig afgesloten. Ik reis veel en heb respect voor anderen. Heb ook teveel betaald voor de nachten omdat ik eerlijk aangaf bij inchecken wellicht met 2 op de kamer te slapen, wat uiteindelijk niet was. Dus betaald voor 2 personen en voor het ontbijt. Vind ik allemaal geen probleem. Maar dergelijk onvriendelijk gedrag kan ik dan niet zo goed...
