Mozambique Wilderness is the place to be! Great atmosphere with the most delicious food. They were extremely accommodating as we did not book a table in advance, giving us a choice to sit outside next to the firepit or inside to escape for the chilly Wilderness night. Staff were incredibly friendly and service was quick. It is worth noting that the staff relationships are beautiful as you can hear how they communicate with each other with respect and help each other on a busy night. The service was impeccable! Our server was honest with the food recommendations, especially how spicy their sauces are and what to pick for dessert. Onto the food - the table was quiet during mealtime as there was no words to describe how good the food were. I highly recommend trying their curries (Prawn/Chicken and Prawn curry with rice), their Mozambik steak, and then Prawn and Chicken combo. The drinks were also very delicious. The menu had a wide variety of food - ensuring all foodies will enjoy a feast. Their menu ranged from seafood, to meats and chicken, to vegetarian. Wine and drinks list highlighted some amazing regional wines and classic cocktails. Only people with a good eye will spot some games and jokes to share with the table or restaurant on the menu.
All in all, a very pleasant experience and would definitely visit again! (Apologies for not adding photos as the food and drinks were demolished before the thought even crossed my mind - it...
Read moreSo decided to take a friend who's never experienced Mozambik. Well it turned out not to be a good night for service at all. From the time we ordered cocktails and water the service was shoddy to say the least. No glasses brought with the bottle water. We got up to get it ourselves from the barman, who was to busy on his phone to worry about pouring drinks. Our waitress had to keep looking at our menu to see what we were ordering... 2 starters arrived and waited 10 minutes before we got up and asked where the 3rd starter was. It eventually arrived. We had just started eating our starters and our mains arrived! We called the manager and asked what was going on. He explained that our waitress is new and made mistakes. Mains were sent back. When we were ready we asked for Mains. Another mistake Two of us ordered hot peri peri chicken but instead got the Zambeziana chicken with coconut cream with no peri peri at all. When I told the Manager he apologised and brought a Xai Xai sauce with little heat and mixed with cream which I do not like at all. Just not acceptable at all. A very disappointing experience. I'll give this restaurant a miss...
Read moreFirst let me say that we may have been unlucky. Perhaps it’s not always this bad. But a basic rule of hospitality- don’t let a novice waiter loose without some tight background supervision. We had a disaster of a meal. One person’s order was not even given to the kitchen so they ate after we had finished. I ordered piri piri chicken and got a chicken covered with a brown mess of barbecue sauce. I asked the waitress twice if this was the piri piri chicken and she said it was. It turns out it was the ‘spicy barbecue’ - don’t order this it’s awful. There were other mishaps which I won’t go into- from the starters to the coffee. The manager appeared right at the end of the meal to ask if everything was okay- too late. He did give us a take away chicken portion to compensate but really we went for lunch- not a take away. Missing? Professional management and competent...
