The food was really good unfortunately the service out did itself on being the worst I've ever received. They let us sit down only to rush us throughout the whole evening. Didn't give us the complimentary bread and when we asked why? the waiter said because they were closing soon and didn't see the need to. We were ignored throughout the night and the service was really horrendous from the different staff who helped us and kept telling us to hurry up. If the kitchen is closing then they simply could have told us and we could have gone elsewhere instead of being rushed. In the middle of our meal they brought us the bill and told us to pay immediately which we found very rude as they could not even let us finish our food before rushing us to pay and go coz the restaurant was still very full but I guess since we didn't have a table full of bottles then they didn't care about us. When we asked to order our 2nd round they told us the bar had closed and we asked how come they didn't tell us it was closing to order our last drinks as we had only ordered our 1st drinks. Waiter said nothing and just looked at us.When we complained about the service the waiters were visibly laughing at us amongst each other and then proceeded to roll their eyes. We asked for the manager and he never came coz they didnt take us seriously and brought us another waiter coz we're idiots who don't know how the manager looked. It was visibly evident how the waiters treated the tables with large volumes of expensive alcohol over us. Yho hayi sorry I'm not a moreki whose bill will cost the price of renting a house but there was no need for the poor service I got on my birthday of all days. Poor training of staff is very evident. Will definitely never ever return again. Will definitely inform my friends & family how average customers are treated at this establishment so they dont experience the same. Quite sad the poor...

My friend and I had a divine evening at the establishment on Friday the 15th of October. We were served by an absolutely divine bar tender called Ashley. Hi Ash!! 😘 Because of this wonderful experience we returned Sunday morning and were in for a rather nasty surprise. We had breakfast and drinks and intended to order lunch. However, the manager of the establishment began to glare at us and grumble at his staff about us. We caught several pointed gestures and the entire mood and vibe became incredibly toxic. The waiter who had been serving us became more and more miserable and finally I asked him if he needed us to pay the bill because he was looking extremely stressed. He said yes and we closed our bill with him and requested another waiter as we wanted to order lunch. Instead, even more pointed muttering was aimed our way until one of the waitresses came our way and asked us to move to a different table in order to accommodate a bigger party. We did so and asked, again, for a new waiter. Instead we got the manager stomping around, glaring at us and clicking his tongue at us. Honestly we were baffled. Do restaurants not want patrons willing to spend a fair sum of money over breakfast and lunch on food and drinks? If they had served us lunch they would have made a good 2k from us that day but after all the drama my friend and I took our leave and spent our money elsewhere. All that passive-aggressive, unnecessary nonsense ruined what was a really lovely Sunday of brunching and lunching and drinking. A real shame. Check your managers because they're ruining...

Went out for a pre birthday dinner after reading the fantastic reviews and excellent recommendations for 14 on Chartwell, upon arrival we were greeted by the host who was friendly and let us choose our table, the ambience was vibey and loud if that's what you're looking for. Sat down and ordered drinks unfortunately the on tap beer was warm and flat the GnT that was ordered was very weak, we proceeded to order starters which took a while but that was okay because we received complimentary peanuts and a side of sausage chutney with abit of dipping bread... That was the best bit of the experience!

The waiter serving us was inattentive and seemed to be in a hurry as he rushed us for the starter order, we had 3 people come to us to take away our menus whilst we were still using them as they didn't have enough for other patron's.

the restaurant wasn't even half full!

The food finally arrived and was absolutely underwhelming the lamb riblets was cold and rubbery almost inedible, the pork bites also very chewy and the chicken livers were stale to say the least as a bit of a feather was found in the sauce.

We decided to get the bill and leave as we were not about to throw hard earned money on terrible food. If the starters were absolute rubbish we were not about to take a chance on mains.

All in all a terrible experience and i certainly will not be going back or recommending this establishment to anyone...

The chicken and bacon salad was delicious, the Holoumi burger was well made but dry, the Prawn pasta was delicious, but hot - which was not expressed by the menu. Our waiter was either too busy, or did not have good knowledge of the menu and struggled to suggest meals and strangely he placed our champagne bucket far away from us. At some point the manager walked past our table and took condiments without asking, so we complained to him about him 🤣 The worst part of the experience was that the bathrooms were filthy, all 4 stalls were disgusting.

Ambience was good. Went on a Saturday evening, there was a buzz. The table came with a warm roll and a hearty boerie gravy which was served once we ordered food. The food was good, however not as good when considering the price point. The chicken and bacon salad was delicious, the Holoumi burger was well made but dry, the Prawn pasta was delicious, but hot - which was not expressed by the menu.
