We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of April. It was wonderful, but not a 5-star experience. The location is great if you’re visiting Barcelona for the first time. The room was very nice, although I typically get an upgrade when checking in - it wasn’t even mentioned. The maid service was on top of it - we really appreciated the attention to detail. Every morning we enjoyed a meal in their stunning dining room. I highly recommend the breakfast. We had it included with our reservation booking with my CC. I’m serious when I tell you it was PHENOMENAL. The service was fantastic and the food even better. The rooftop had quite the views and it was the perfect way to start a night out with the welcome drinks they provide you with when you check in. The bell hops were always on top of it although the front desk/concierge could have been a little more attentive & responsive. We asked for multiple things several times - like an iron & ice - and only after hours we’d call again and it would be delivered. They weren’t that busy from our observation. It doesn’t have the full amenities as any other 5-star resort I’ve stayed at. Don’t count on a proper spa or a full gym - or a full size pool. We booked massages and they were in a hotel room on the first floor. My masseuse played spa music on her phone. Great massages from Olga, but it wasn’t ideal or 5-star. Overall, we had a relaxing stay. But do not come into it thinking you’ll be treated the same as the Ritz or Four Seasons. It’s more boutique and lacking the extra touches to be 5-star.

We just checked out of the Almanac and what a wonderful stay it was. This is a true 5-star hotel; what other 5-star hotels strive for, but often miss the mark. From the greeter from Mumbai, who’s name I didn’t get, but who is the first, customer-facing staff you encounter, who always made us so grateful to get back “home”, to the entire staff at the front desk, starting with Amaya, who checked us in, the staff was attentive, polite and consistently inquired whether we needed anything to make our stay more enjoyable. The rooms are exquisite, quite calming and the beds were super luxurious & comfortable, the shower and bathroom amenities are superb, and whomever thought through the lighting in the rooms should be congratulated, because they took every comfort into account, and delivered an exceptional experience. The Rooftop Bar was equally amazing; quiet, not too busy, and with unobstructed views of the Sagrada Familia church. Special shoutout to Franco and Timon at the rooftop who mixed a mean margarita, made us feel welcome and took great care of us. There is a beautiful, Michelin-rated restaurant in the lobby, Virens, with a fantastic server named Anita. It’s a good option if you are tired and want to stay in for the night. They also have an excellent breakfast service with both a buffet and made to order items. Their Eggs Benedict were incredible. All in all, it was an unforgettable stay and we can’t wait to return. Thank you Almanac Staff!!!!

*I am currently on my 2nd morning/day here* and felt the need to share. The hotel touts itself as giving a luxurious experience for guests - it falls short and is incredibly inconsistent with quality. Cons - rat chewed looking robe (pictured), 3 pieces of facial tissues, so out after checking in late pm yesterday, zero wash clothes, no vanity kit with the typical “luxury” hotel stuff, like razor, comb, toothbrushes, etc. that we typically found at Intercontinental or seville boutique luxury hotels we came from. There are stains on the vanity indicating lack of attention to detail by cleaning crew, gym equipment dirty, old and some not functioning consistently or at all, one steam room out of order in spa, poor noise insulation in rooms where we heard hollering in middle of night by guests, closing of various doors - needs so much more polish to get to 5 stars. Some of these little thoughtful and generous touches really makes a difference to certain clients. Pros - Nice team of staff, greeted with champagne and smiles. Amazing restaurant with a wonderful breakfast spread, had a bidet in our room. Great tech upgrades all around the hotel and room controls. Good location. Nice city view… to be fair whenever we asked for anything (qtips wash clothes facial tissues etc the team immediately brought them).

I travel to Barcelona 2–3 times a year, and this was my first time staying at this hotel. I originally planned to switch to another hotel halfway through my trip - but ended up canceling that reservation to stay here the entire time. That alone should tell you how exceptional the experience was.||||From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome. The front desk team was warm, professional, and consistently kind, greeting me every time I came or went. I especially appreciated the complimentary drink on arrival - such a thoughtful touch. The concierge team was fantastic, always ready to help, and made me feel completely taken care of.||||As a solo female traveler, I felt safe, seen, and genuinely prioritized. The level of care, cleanliness, and attention to detail throughout the hotel made this one of the most comfortable and enjoyable stays I’ve had in Barcelona.||||Rooms||Beautifully designed, luxurious, and absolutely spotless. The bed was incredibly comfortable - I actually think I slept better here than I do at home. Between the high-quality mattress and blackout curtains, I got excellent rest, even during midday. The bathroom was equally impressive, with a bidet and premium finishes that made it feel like a true retreat.||||Location||Perfectly situated. You’re one street off a major shopping area (think NYC’s Fifth Ave), so it’s quieter but still very central. The metro and Renfe are nearby, you can walk to many places, and it’s easy to catch a cab.||||Breakfast & Rooftop||I added breakfast to my stay and it was absolutely worth it. There’s a high-quality buffet with great variety, and you can also order à la carte. Coffee and tea orders are taken at your table, which I loved. The rooftop hosts evening events that bring a nice social energy - I found it lively but still classy.||||Gym||The on-site gym is quite small and limited, but if you ask the concierge, they can provide a guest pass to a nearby larger gym. That flexibility was really appreciated. There is a sauna in the hotel though - very nice experience.||||Overall, this hotel exceeded every expectation. I’ve already recommended it to others and look forward to coming back. It’s officially my new go-to...

Paying over 450 euros a night for one of the worst stays ever on our honeymoon. My wife and I were truly looking forward to the stay but there was no sense of care, personalization nor awareness for us. From the moment we checked in we felt as if we were a burden to the hotel, there was no proper welcome nor conversation and the experience felt extremely transactional. We booked the hotel though Amex who had passed the message multiple times to the hotel regarding our honeymoon and requested if some small cute decor could be done but alas to my surprise we find nothing. I can't imagine any 5- star hotel treating/welcoming their guests the way we were received. A few folks who did represent your hotel's name well would be Samir and Anja. Samir did all he could in his control to make us feel welcome and ask at every instance possible on how he could help and would jump on it right away! Whereas the Reception staff saw us and would turn around/ ignore the fact that we are even staying there. Another individual who deserves recognition was Anja from Virens who made our final dinner night in Barcelona such a memorable experience, from the service, to the friendly chatter and giving small surprises based on small talk truly made us happy. We would not come back to the hotel ever again unless there is some serious changes done. Do not recommend this hotel as you could get better service at a 4 or lower-star hotel for a lower price but thank you Samir and Anja for making our stay more comfortable.

Location wise the hotel is well located to get around to Major spots in the city and rooms are quite high tech but ours was definitely glitchy with flickering lights and random curtain opening...

To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. Our experience at the Hotel Almanac in Barcelona was nothing short of a series of frustrating service failures.

Firstly, we paid around 200 euros for a car service set up through the hotel. Our driver was tardy by 30 minutes, which was already a letdown. What's even more baffling is that upon our arrival, the hotel staff had the audacity to accuse us of not utilizing their car service, even after witnessing us alight from the very van they arranged for us! The confrontation felt less like speaking to hotel staff and more like an interrogation.

As if this wasn't enough, the hotel's assurance turned out to be mere empty words. After being promised a room on priority basis, given we were traveling with a toddler, we were met with further delays and excuses. From a promised time of noon, it wasn't until 3:30 pm that we were finally granted access to our room. The sheer lack of concern and communication displayed by the front desk was appalling, especially considering we had been traveling for over 24 hours.

To put it into perspective, our expenditure with the hotel amounted to over 1,500 euros PER night across two rooms. While I don't demand to be treated like royalty, a modicum of respect and the basic service standards I've received at far less pricey establishments is not too much to ask for.

In conclusion, my stay at the Hotel Almanac was marred by unfulfilled promises and an utter lack of basic hospitality standards. For the price we paid, the treatment we received was inexcusable. I am truly disheartened and would urge potential guests to reconsider before making a...
