El Cielo sits above the Mediterranean at the Sofitel Barcelona Skipper, where a pool, panoramic water views, and a cool music creates a scene that feels both chic and relaxed. I first visited for lunch a year ago and still remember how the skyline met the sea; returning for dinner confirmed it is the spot to be, even if you just want to watch the sunset.
We began with tomato bread and fresh cod skewers, then shared a delicious wild seabass carpaccio. The Caesar salad was a standout, layered with quail eggs, crisp croutons, Parmigiano, anchovies, cherry tomatoes, and perfectly grilled chicken breast, all resting on fresh romaine and dressed just enough to let everything shine.
For mains, the girls split a filet mignon sliced tableside and paired with pasta instead of vegetables, cooked exactly to order and tender throughout. Prices sit on the high side, yet every plate felt considered, and the view alone makes the splurge feel justified.
Service stayed attentive without hovering, refilling water and adjusting music volume as the evening shifted from daylight to city lights. Between the food, the poolside setting, and a playlist that kept the energy up, El Cielo remains one of the most memorable dining experiences...
