STAIRWAYS TO HELL The place, as you can see by the stairs without railing and the tiny little elevator is NOT FOR FAMILIES WITH LITTLE KIDS, BABIES, PERSONS WITH REDUCED MOBILITY or PERSONS WITH BACK ISSUES and no assistance as you will have to carry your luggage upstairs. This is self service and there is no staff hired to help with mobility. We booked a crib and they didn’t even bother to tell us about it. The elevator is tiny so it was hell. Fortunately there was a very kind woman working in the building (thank you!! ) who saved me and offered to come help me carry the stroller every time I had to take the stairs. The apartment itself WAS NOT SAFE for kids, the windows are old, single glassed and can open themselves just with the wind. No wind nor noise proof at all. IT WAS UNSAFE FOR MY toddlers , as I found them hanging in the balcony (scary) and also since the cover a kitchen drawer fell on my feet as it was just put on top of another drawer and not mounted as it should. Also the bathroom sink and bidet were clogged. I called maintenance and they came but I really don’t want to spend time with maintenance of an apartment I’m coming to for holidays. The mattress is hard and I don’t see much of a luxury here. We paid 80€ for cleaning and even though I called to ask if they were cleaning during our stay, they never came or called to reply. They didn’t even made an effort to apologize or make any kind of compensation for the falling drawer.
To be fair everything was and the place was clean (just don’t look within the couch pillows). They stuff left some oil, salt, detergent and coffee at our disposal which was nice. The location in l’exemple is very nice, the neighborhood is well deserved and feels safe. It also has many cool restaurants and cafes. I do recommend the place for young couples or friends, also for families with +7yo children.
I wished they had communicated about the stairs which are dangerous and should be shown on the booking platforms. Also, the main door is very old and hard to go by the tiny little door on it. Read moreThis review is regarding apartment SweetInn Plaza Catalunya in Ronda de la Universitat we booked on booking. I advise you to read all recent online reviews about SweetInn Barcelona before you decide to book. The actual apartment is quite run down and old.
These are the problems we encountered: ☹️ We had no hot water for 2 days due to a fault in the geyser. The managers did not bother to come and check the problem. We had to argue repeatedly that a problem did in fact exist. The attitude from staff members was rude and arrogant. We had no apology from them either. ☹️We wanted to check in at 3pm (1 hour earlier than the 4pm allowed) and they wanted to charge us 104€ ☹️Remote control for TV broken ☹️Electronic check in was a disaster- it does not work. They give you only 1 set of keys so the rest of the family cannot go about independently. The electronic keys stopped working- we were stuck outside for hours and SweetInn did not answer their phone. ☹️Blocked basin ☹️ The door of the main bedroom is broken and does not close ☹️It’s a 13 minute walk from the bag storage place to the apartment.
We have requested a partial refund due to the fact that we had no hot water and endless problems with the electronic keys. They promise to refund us, but so far we have had no compensation. If you have a problem staying here, do not expect any help to resolve it, and a rude response from staff.

We asked if we could stay as it was no fault of ours and we didn’t want to cut our day short at the beach by packing and moving room, only to be told the door on our current apartment wasn’t working and anybody could access our room. We had left valuables in the room unknowing the lock didn’t work and the door would unlock with any code rather than just the code that was provided. The apartment we were moved to had a broken oven and the ceiling was leaking in the bathroom, so overall a very disappointment experience. The office staff were not helpful and lied to us, would not recommend to stay here, much better and safer places...
