We chose this place for our one night stay for our 4-person family because of the fairly good reviews in Tripadvisor, central location and good price. We were more than satisfied! The location is great, there are lots of really nice restaurants and bars close by. When visiting Cadiz, location is very important if you want to enjoy the atmospheric small alleys and nice little tapas restaurants. All the main sights are also a walking distance away. The hostel is very clean and well maintained, and one cannot enter without the receptionist unlocking the door so it's very safe, too. The rooms are naturally nothing spectacular: small rooms with a very small bathroom, but there is everything you need. The bathtub is minuscule but if shower is enough for you then it's ok. Most of the rooms only have an "indoor window" so be prepared to not having a view, though. The positive thing about this is that the rooms are quiet and there is no disturbing outdoor noise. For 50€/room I think this is a bargain!||There are lots of nice restaurants and bars nearby. We had some tapas opposite the hotel: the place is full of locals and the food was good. We ate dinner just around the corner (turn right when going out and take the first street on the right. The tapas restaurant El Callejon is within a 3 minute walking distance and it's great!) There are also many places which serve breakfast nearby.||At first we were worried about the lack of parking place but as we read from previous reviews there is a big underground parking place (Las Canalejas) very close by, right by the port, a couple of minutes walking distance, and it cost 23€/day. Of course there are cheaper places, too, but they are farther away.||I'd definitely stay here again on my next trip to Cadiz (unless someone else paid...
Read moreStayed here for two nights at the end of a trip around Spain. Hostal Canalejas is in a brilliant location (around a ten minute walk from the train station and maximum of 15 mins to any of the major sights locations in Cadiz), it's clean and it's safe. ||||Didn't think the value for money was that great - the price paid for two nights in Cadiz was equivalent to accommodation costs for Seville and Granada combined - hence the average score for the value of the room. ||||The room was a twin which was converted via a shove of the beds into a double, good size with a lovely bathroom with a really good shower, just what you need to get over self inflicted sun burn!||||Front desk is manned 24 hours a day and you have to buzz to get into the front door which adds a layer of security.||||Overall a nice little place to stay and crash for seeing the sights and getting to the beach...
Read moreThe hotel is central in the old town. Many restaurants and cafes are nearby within walking distance. Lorna, one of the staff members who sat sometimes in the reception or was involved with room cleaning was helpful.||||However, the hotel is grossly over valued even after taking into consideration the location of the hotel and the fact that I stayed in the hotel during the carnival time. The single bed that I was provided with, was extremely uncomfortable. The WIFI connection did not reach the third floor where my room was. The TV had only Spanish channels. It took the hotel staff three days to change a faulty bulb in the bedside lamp, which was...
