We went for a quick coffee, and after 30 minutes of waiting my friend was going to go in to ask. As she got up she cut her leg on the broken bench. We told a waitress and she rushed inside - we assumed to get help or something to stop the bleeding. But she just disappeared! I went in to follow up, but they didn't care at all! So, I asked for a complaint form (hoja de reclamacion) - they gave it to me but wouldn't allow me to take it with me to fill in later! I wasn't going to leave my friend bleeding in the street to fill in a form! More than the accident or the slow service what is inexcusable is the inability of the staff to respond in a civil or appropriate manner to an accident on the premises. There was no indication of concern, no apology, no 'service recovery' and more importantly, I went back to take a photo of the broken bench and they hadn't done anything to make it safer!! Another accident waiting to happen. This has been my friends' and my favourite breakfast spot since it opened, however after today we won't be returning.

UPDATE - the reply to this email contains blatant lies. The waitress did NOT provide a first aid kit! She did not come out to help - I am completely shocked that such lies have been told. Secondly we were there around 9:30 in the morning, the owner writes that a client ripped off the back of the chair and in the "noise" the staff didn't notice. I find it hard to believe that in the 30 minutes since opening someone ripped of the back of a bench. I would prefer to hear what you are going to do to fix the problem and make sure it won't happen again rather than excuses that are clearly lies. Shame on you.

Update #2: One week later still not fixed!!! (Put tape on it or find a plastic lid to cover it - my friend is going to have a scar on her leg for the rest of her life - please make at least a small effort no one else is injured! Imagine if a child is hurt!) Update #3: Four months later, still not fixed. Strange that in four months "no one...

My Spanish isn't perfect by any means but I am not too incompetent to order. My B1 Spanish has never stopped me from going to a restaurant before.

Having said that, I never thought that simply ORDERING would be made so utterly difficult. We only managed to order once when we hadn't fully decided yet. Turns out, you apparently can only order once. Servers take orders/ put food or drinks down without a single look or word and immediately leave. When I ask a passing server to order, I get a passing look and they just walk past me without a word.

All I'm trying to do is give you money, goddamnit. The food and drinks were awesome but I felt like the servers despised me by simply existing.

I know you heard me, you even looked at me, so why won't you talk to me? Even my Spanish friend understands me fine but none of you can?! My friend was shocked because she had initially recommended this place to me. Getting servers to simply acknowledge us was a challenge.

It's not even like they just didn't see us. We sat right across the bar and they often had to walk past us. And yet, even when they looked at us and heard us, because we were mere centimeters apart, we would sometimes get ignored. Would have loved to spend more money there but that was sadly made impossible. My friend and I went somewhere else...

We stoped here for a quick coffee and a brunch. The coffees were okay, nothing special. We've also has some Eggs Benedict that were okay but nothing wow. What throws us off though is the service. They don't even look at you, nor speak to you. They took our order without saying anything, then came 5 minutes later with the Eggs Benedict. 2 minutes later they came and took them wothout even asking, saying "this isn't for you". Safe to say they took it to another table, directly from ours. :) Ew. The place is beautiful, especially inside, but the salt and peppper recipients are extremly dirty, and are passed from one table to another. At the end, when we wantd the check, we waited for a while to catch the waitress, and when we did we just said "excuse me", to catch her attention, because she wasn't looking at us at all, and she seemed so hurt by the fact that we talked to her :). We had to scream from one side to the other that we wanted to pay by card, because by the time we told her that we want the check, she already left.

And also, the check was weird. There are things on the check that don't match the names in the menu, so you don't even know what you pay for.

Anyways, you can find SO MUCH BETTER in Cadiz. Come here for Insta photos tho, the...

This is without a doubt, the cutest café I’ve been in Cadiz. The decor is adorable. However, the food is only OK. The menu seems very interesting for brunch. They have brunch options from different regions and it comes with a coffee and a drink. But both the cappuccino I ordered and the brunch itself lacks quality. I do very much appreciate the vibe. Also when I came it was so crowded and the staff was clearly overwhelmed. So it took a long time to get seated and order. There are also annoying flies that were very insistent on flying around the food. So I wasn’t a huge fan. But it’s a cute place to hang with friends and get a quick coffee. And for $8.50 brunch that includes juice coffee and food, it’s not so bad!

A bit more 'style over substance'. Looks intriguing from the outside and more so inside. Serves every combination of breakfast known to mankind. I can't remember what I chose, Los Angeles I think? Southern fried chicken on waffles with ice cream, yes please. Unfortunately the fried chicken was chicken nuggets, and waffles tasted pre cooked and reheated. English Breakfast Tea had an odd little rubber hat, but was cold and not tea like at all - and as a Brit I drink tea by the bucket. I think that summed it up for me - great concept, worth a visit, but more of a concept than an actual place you'd go back to, unless I was missing something. Very reasonably priced and staff were friendly though.
