hostal centro Sol — Hotel in Cádiz

On arrival I was met by a male receptionist. I use the word "met" rather than welcomed as I had the distinct feeling that he would prefer to be doing something else.||||The room was clean and tidy. The shower head was loose on the wall and had to be held up by hand to get the water to reach me instead of the wall. After the shower I saw that the water had leaked from the side of the shower unit and run into the bedroom and it took a considerable amount of mopping up with the towel to clear it.||||There was a lot of noise coming up from the open central area into the floors above and this continued until well after midnight. The decor was well past its best and the room was in need of redecoration.||||The breakfast was woeful and consisted of some toasted bread with butter and jam and nothing more.||||When I asked about wi-fi availability I was told of three available and to use whichever one had the best signal in my room. When I asked for passwords I was handed a pen and paper and told to copy them down from the information on the wall.||||At checkout mine host - the same man as the previous evening - was more interested in speaking to the other owners/staff rather than attend to my imminent departure.||||I would not recommend this establishment to anyone visiting Cadiz. We booked this hostal more than two months advance, when we arrived, we found it was the last two days of Cadiz Carnival. The boss told us since there were too many guests, so he would like to arrange another room for us for the first night (we total booked 3 nights), & hostal will provide 3 breakfast as compensation, so we agreed. But this is not a fair deal, the room of the first night is very small without air conditioner, the breakfast is just two toast with one cup of coffee, after we asked the 2nd cup of coffee, the staff (who do not understand English) was not happy & saying something in Spanish. The day before we check out, we asked boss if they can prepare breakfast 15 minutes earlier tomorrow morning (general time is 8:00 am) since we have to catch early bus, but the boss directly refused. The room rate is as high as 85 Euro, but the service is poorer than 30...

if you want to do yourself a favor, stay away from this hostel. never in my travels have I been treated so badly and believe you me I travel a lot.||when I first read the reviews here and on other sites I could not believe what I had read. But it's true the owner is a very desperate person. Grumpy unfriendly and impolite.||if you have any questions please do not ask.
