A pleasant hotel in a prime location just off the main square, access is down a slightly uninspiring alley, but once in the hotel it’s light and airy with a large central atrium. It’s presumably an old building that’s been renovated, and they’ve incorporated much of the original stone arches in to the design which was as an attractive feature. The check in procedure seemed a little laborious with no less than three different bits of paper needing signatures. The room was quite compact, and with no view at all other than the wall of the building opposite which was just a few feet away. There was a balcony, but it was so small there was barely room to stand on it, it’s certainly nor somewhere you could have sat. There is a pool and terrace on the top floor, but the pool was quite small and didn’t look especially inviting. ||The room itself was decent enough with facilities including safe, TV, mini-bar, etc. Complimentary bottled water and some small chocolates were provided on the first day, but not replenished. Although we had booked a double room, what we got was a twin with the beds pushed together. I know hotels need flexibility and will often push twin beds together to make a double, but I’ve always had them made with a double sheet before so it is effectively a double other than the slight ridge where they join. Here though it was still entirely sperate sheets and covers on each bed. It was all clean and tidy though, and the shower was pretty good, although the bathroom was very small to the extent that they’d had to fit the basin in the bedroom as there was no room in the bathroom. We slept well and didn’t hear any noise either from outside or in.||Breakfast offered a decent spread of most options, although without much in the way of depth. Cold meat and cheese for example, but no fish, and only orange juice. The hot food was a bit of a mixed bag, the bacon was nice and crispy and the potato rosties were very good, but the scrambled egg was rock solid and pretty much inedible. Overall though, a great location and I'd happily...
Read moreBE CAREFUL. The hotel is correct, rooms are small though, but their business ethic is very dodgy. We booked two rooms with twin beds. At check-in they made us pay in advance WITHOUT mentioning they could not provide twin beds. We discovered the problem when entering in the rooms. Back to reception they said they did not have twin beds and they would not refund us. I called the manager who in essence told me that she would under not circumstance refund us and did not care about me leaving a bad review. She told me that my problem was a "perception"! Sorry but having one bed instead of two is a reality, not a perception. We had to book another room in an hotel they recommended and happened to be from the same chain! Of course we had to pay for that. The owners of this hotel are just about money to the detriment of customer satisfaction.
PS: after reading the response from the manager. They could (should?) have done the following:
Soho Boutique Hotel Cádiz
We stayed at the Soho Boutique Hotel in Cadiz from Fri 13th - Sun 15th June we booked a basic double room - don’t be fooled by the pictures this is a very very basic room extremely small no natural light which is very dark and depressing! The window opens into the reception area so you can hear any noises from the reception plus they can hear you with window open!
Toilet and shower in one room with the sink in the bedroom area no ventilation in the bathroom as the fan does not seem to work so the bedroom smells from the toilet.
No proper place to hang clothes only a few hangers in a small open frame cabinet.
Breakfast was in a small room and was ok if you never touched the hot food as it was cold.
We asked for a change of room but were told we would have to pay an extra supplement which considering the poor quality of the room we were in was not acceptable.
The staff were ok but super defensive about the rooms, the WiFi in general didn't work as I tried to stream something and ended up using my phone to stream to.
Don't be fooled by the online pictures of the hotel in general it pretty bland
In reality the hotel really...
