We have been going here regularly for the last few years. Why? A good and plentiful variety of fusion food on a moving belt/clean and pleasant environment/hardworking staff/reasonably priced. It's an all-you-can-eat concept and is great fun to go to with friends. (Many plates to choose from means everybody's happy.) A constant procession of individual portions means that you get to taste everything. When you return - which you will - you'll know your favourites. Lunchtime buffet plus soft drink (free refills are pressed on you by friendly staff) is, considering the area, a very reasonable € 12. Nights and weekends are more expensive, € 15/16 I think. Wine/beer/coffee, etc. are all fairly priced. Drinks and ice creams are perfectly chilled. Wine selection and coffee quality are on a par with Spanish restaurants which isn't always the case with Asian establishments here. Turnover is key in a pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap strategy so plan to be out within an hour. (Which is a pity as I could spend all day watching the chef's magical preparation.) You can also eat a la carte which I haven't done. It's a professional and well-run place that has focused beautifully on its niche market and I strongly recommend it.
20.9 17: I've, sadly, downgraded this place, from a rare five star rating, by two stars. The old sushi chef has gone and the new one puts sauces and mayonnaise on ALL the sushi. (I've mentioned this to one if the staff, let's see if they take note.) The sushi seemed to be fresher in the past but perhaps that's my imagination. The ingredients have definitely changed for the worse i.e. tinned tuna for fresh. I'd love to upgrade this place back to its old rating as it was a real favourite of...
Read moreKintaro Sushi Buffet offers a unique dining experience that’s definitely worth checking out, especially if you're into sushi and Japanese cuisine. My group of three made a reservation, and we were seated promptly, which set a positive tone for the meal. The highlight is undoubtedly the moving belt that carries a variety of sushi options, from fresh rolls to nigiri, as well as side dishes like miso soup, edamame, dumplings, egg rolls, fried rice, noodles, and desserts. It's a fun and interactive way to enjoy a meal, with an endless stream of food right at your fingertips.
At a midday price of 16.80 euros per person, it’s a good deal for the amount and variety of food available. However, drinks are not included in the price, so you will need to order those separately. Also, there’s a 90-minute time limit, which adds a bit of urgency to the meal, but it’s more than enough time to sample everything you want.
One downside was the issue with used plates being left on the belt by some guests, which created a less-than-pleasant sight. The staff did try to address this by placing signs asking patrons not to leave dirty plates, but the problem persisted. On the plus side, there were staff members consistently circulating the tables to clear away empty dishes, which was a nice touch.
Overall, Kintaro Sushi Buffet provides a fun and interactive experience for sushi lovers. While the plate issue could use some attention, the variety of food and the novelty of the moving belt make for an enjoyable outing. If you’re looking to try something different, this place is certainly...
Read moreI’ve been to 4 or 5 different sushi buffets in Madrid and this one wins hands down. No it’s not authentic Japanese food, and there’s nothing for the pure sashimi lovers (of which I’m one) but for the price it does the trick! When we arrived there were only rolls circulating the bottom belt, rolls aren’t my favourite and I was concerned I’d be stuck with slim pickings, but when the top belt fired up there was all sorts of stuff to fill my face with, some of it more Chinese or Spanish in nature but delicious food nonetheless. The crispy shredded beef is worth a mention, the dumplings, the flambe salmon nigiri, garlic clams…. The list is endless. Whoever you are and whatever you like you will find something. With 2 bottles of wine the bill came to under 60€ and we rolled out of there and home for a snooze.
Value for money? Funk yeah! Would I go back? Repeatedly High point? The salmon flambe nigiri Low point? Everything is covered in a mayo or cream cheese type sauce. A lighter touch or just leaving it off and adding it as a table condiment wouldn’t be...
