Highlights • Excellent location: Nestled in Cala Major, the hotel lies just meters from the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró and a short walk (around 5–10 minutes) to Cala Major beach. Public transport is within easy reach for trips into central Palma. • Art-infused atmosphere: As the only Joan Miró–themed hotel in the world, it artfully blends contemporary luxury with cultural inspiration. The décor features artwork and motifs tied to the famous artist. • Pools and leisure facilities: Guests love the spacious, well-kept outdoor pool with ample loungers and a peaceful vibe—even at peak times. • Fitness amenities: The small but adequately equipped gym overlooking the pool earns praise, especially for convenience and ambiance—though it’s better suited for one or two users at a time. • Friendly, helpful staff & solid breakfast: Reviewers frequently highlight the warm, accommodating service, with numerous comments on how helpful and pleasant the staff are. The breakfast buffet is consistently described as varied and tasty. • Good value for money: Prices start from approximately €89–€139 for a double room, inclusive of breakfast depending on season. The hotel ranks well in terms of value.
Points to Consider • Hills and location relative to city centre: Some guests noted it’s a bit of a hike—or bus ride—down to the beach or into Palma city centre, especially uphill returns. • Mixed Wi‑Fi experiences: While the hotel provides free Wi‑Fi, some guests report variable signal strength in certain areas of the hotel. • Occasional noise and parking caveats: A few guests mention noise disturbances near some rooms (e.g., ventilation units) and limited on-site parking—though paid parking is available nearby.
Summary
Hotel Joan Miró Museum is a charming 4-star gem offering a serene, art-inspired stay just steps from both culture and coast. Its strengths—welcoming staff, excellent breakfast, relaxing pool, and proximity to the Miró Foundation—make it a top pick for leisure travelers and families. With reasonable pricing and family-friendly features (like a children’s pool, game room, and flexible room options), it’s ideal for a relaxing Mallorcan getaway. Minor caveats like Wi‑Fi variability, parking logistics, or slight noise are typical for its location and are mostly outweighed by its...
Read moreI do not want to criticise this hotel; everything is spotless, staff excellent, food delicious and reasonably priced. However there are a few things that you need to be aware of if you choose to stay here.|The location is not good if you are coming for a holiday. There are a couple of restaurants at the bottom of the hill, which are ok but nothing special. There are no bars, so if you want to eat, drink or enjoy an evening out you will need to walk into Cala Major, about 15 minutes away. The nearest beach is located there too. Cala Major has some ok restaurants, but few bars, so if you want a lively resort with things going on and possibly entertainment in the evening, then this place is not for you- it is even a little run down. This would not be a good resort for children, as there is little for them to do. The walk back from Cala Major up the hill to the hotel is tiring, especially if it is hot, though you can get a taxi back for around 5 euros or 2 euros each by bus.|The number 4 bus, located at the bottom of the hill, runs frequently and will get you into Palma city centre in about 20 minutes. However, they are extremely busy, so you will be lucky to get a seat and expect to be jostled as everyone clambers aboard- not good for children, who will have to hold on tight and may be tired after a long, hot day in the city. When you get off the bus, you then have to negotiate the hill up to the hotel, which is not fun when the sun is beating down on you.|Also be aware that the hotel restaurant closes for the day after breakfast is served. You can buy food and drinks throughout the day, such as burgers, spaghetti, salads and it is all good and can be eaten in the bar area or on the terrace, but don’t expect to spend an evening in the hotel enjoying a three course, leisurely meal. There is nothing to do in the evening, the hotel is quiet and would certainly not appeal to children. The pool is good, but nothing else to keep families entertained.|I don’t want to appear so negative, as this hotel does everything to ensure your stay is pleasant, but the location...
