(We stayed 3 nights during 1/2024). First, the beds/sleeping experience were even better than we experience at home. I would like to own those pillows and the Dyson hair dryer--well, that's unheard of! Second, the view of Lake Lucerne and the promenade were spectacular--see attached photos. Third, the hospitality was incredible. Concierge Tiago, Front Desk and porter staff were all so welcoming. Housekeeping was like I've never seen--besides all the usual tidying up, they wrapped stray cords and left a Mandarin Oriental book-marker in a book! Fourth, the food quality and staff, especially Catherine, at breakfast were superb. We arrived in Lucerne WITHOUT some of our luggage. I can't imagine a better place to have been "stuck" (luggage was eventually delivered late on the 2nd day). I was celebrating my birthday and Concierge Tiago arranged some hotel-provided e-bikes that we were able to use to explore the lake area. We returned from our ride to find festive balloons and a fun cupcake in our room from the staff, along with a card and photo of of us on the e-bikes. I mentioned to Tiago the name of a Peruvian restaurant, PiKante, where we planned to have dinner that night. That evening at the restaurant, we learned that Concierge Tiago had personally dropped by a box of Swiss chocolate for our dessert! This was our first visit to Switzerland and also our first stay at a Mandarin Oriental. Of course Lucerne is a very special place but the staff at the Mandarin Oriental made it a truly exceptional and memorable experience. I regret that we failed to use the hotel's fitness facilities but we walked everywhere and saw so much that we simply did not have time to explore some of the hotel's many other amenities. I guess we'll just have to return!

What a wonderful stay we had recently at The Mandarin Oriental Luzern. The hotel is so special to look at, and with its location on the lake with the mountains behind it really is a picture. Our room was purely luxurious, with fantastic space, and the most wonderful balcony looking out onto the most beautiful view. We were also very lucky to experience the carnival during our visit, which really made the city come alive with great music, shows and fantastic scenes. We were firstly welcomed so warmly and professionally by Rui the doorman, who was always there throughout our stay to make sure that myself and my family were well and to collect our car when needed. He was fantastic with the children and nothing was ever too much for him. Luigi on the reception was so kind and helpful giving those amazing bespoke room cards to my children (They love it), and we were very grateful to Severin who made sure everything in our room and our stay was perfect. We had room service on our first night, it was absolutely fantastic, our children are still talking about the soup and the kids burger, the club sandwich was also one of the best we have tried. Breakfast each morning was amazing, with such a great selection for both adults and kids, the team were so attentive, especially (The Sicilian Lady Manager, apologise I forgot her name) plus the whole breakfast team and of course Vladimir who took the time and kindly suggested amazing places to visit. Thank you to everyone for making this a very special break for myself and my family.

Here’s the final message: Dear Team at Mandarin Oriental, Lucerne, Thank you for a truly wonderful stay! The staff and service were absolutely incredible, and every detail was handled with such care and thoughtfulness. The special touches for my sister’s birthday, including the photo and lovely amenities, made the occasion even more memorable. The warm welcome on arrival, especially with the advent calendar in reception, added a festive and charming touch. A special thank you to Christian Wildhaber, General Manager, and Marcel Kofler, Hotel Manager, for their leadership in instilling Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service across all the colleagues. Thanks also to Johansen for his lovely personal welcome—it was so appreciated. A special mention to Michael at Concierge, who went above and beyond, and to Chef at Minamo for an outstanding dining experience—it was truly unforgettable. The dining at Collonade was equally exceptional, and from the moment we arrived, we were treated with the utmost care and attention. There are too many names to mention, but every colleague we encountered was fantastic. I highly recommend your beautiful hotel and look forward to returning. Thank you again! Warm regards, Maria

My recent stay at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Luzern was an extraordinary experience that left an indelible impression. From the moment we arrived until our departure, every aspect of our stay was marked by exceptional service, attention to detail, and genuine warmth from the staff. The front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant staff were outstanding, and one staff member, Massimo, truly went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was nothing short of perfect.

The front desk staff deserves special recognition for their attentiveness and professionalism. They greeted us with a warm welcome, efficiently handled our check-in, and were always available to address any queries or requests throughout our stay. Their dedication to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction was commendable and greatly contributed to the overall exceptional experience.

Housekeeping at Mandarin Oriental Luzern was impeccable. The rooms were flawlessly maintained, and the attention to detail was evident in every aspect. Returning to a meticulously cleaned and well-organized room each day was a delightful experience that truly added to the overall enjoyment of our stay.

The restaurant staff were equally impressive, providing exemplary service and creating memorable dining experiences. From the exquisite menu to their knowledgeable recommendations, the restaurant staff consistently surpassed expectations. Their genuine warmth and passion for hospitality enhanced our dining experiences and made each meal a true delight.

Among the exceptional staff, Massimo truly stood out. His dedication to ensuring that our stay exceeded all expectations was truly remarkable. Massimo took the time to understand our preferences and went out of his way to make our stay truly unforgettable. His attention to detail, warm demeanor, and genuine care for our comfort and satisfaction made us feel like valued guests throughout our stay.

I highly recommend booking a terrace room at Mandarin Oriental Luzern. While the rooms opposite the lake view may not do the location justice, the terrace rooms provide a breathtaking experience. The panoramic views of the serene lake and majestic mountains are simply awe-inspiring. Each moment spent on the terrace was a cherished memory, whether enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning or unwinding with a glass of wine in the evening. The terrace rooms truly elevate the overall experience and allow guests to fully immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area.

The spa at Mandarin Oriental Luzern also deserves special mention. The steam room and quiet area were meticulously cared for and provided a haven of tranquility and relaxation. The serene ambiance, coupled with attentive service, created a rejuvenating experience that left us feeling refreshed and pampered. Overall, my stay at the Mandarin Oriental Luzern was a testament to the highest standards of luxury and hospitality. The front desk staff, housekeeping, restaurant staff, and, especially, Massimo, exceeded all expectations and ensured a truly remarkable stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking an exquisite and unforgettable experience in Luzern. The terrace rooms, with their breathtaking views, and the well-maintained spa facilities further elevate the overall experience. I look forward to returning to the Mandarin Oriental Luzern in the future for another...

We recently stayed at the Mandarin for part of our honeymoon and didn’t have the 5 star experience that we were expecting. Upon checking in we received tea we were greeted with a very warm welcome from the front desk staff! This would be the best part of our experience at the hotel during our two day stay.

We were pleasantly surprised that the room was ready early. After waiting only 10 minutes after arrival over tea we were escorted to our room by someone at the front desk. They opened the door, to our surprise there were two beds in the room not one. The person who escorted us told us that the beds would be made into one. This never happened during our stay.

As we were getting ready to head out and explore Lucerne, someone knocked at our door to give us chocolates, they hesitated and said “I’m sorry I didn’t realize you were still here,” thinking that we were the guests who recently stayed in the room and hadn’t checked out yet. We reassured the person that we just checked in and they gave us some chocolates with a note about our honeymoon.

We then proceeded downstairs to get a drink at the outside bar. We were promptly greeted and were given nuts and the waiter took our drink order. It took 15 minutes to get the drinks. Once we received them, no one ever came back to check if they were ok or visit us to ask if we wanted another round of drinks. We would have definitely ordered another round as the drinks were very good. After 45 minutes of empty drink glasses we finally had to get up and flag down someone to get our check to pay.

That night we wanted to book reservations at a restaurants downtown, the person at the front desk did a great job and got us a reservation at a fully booked spot given their connections to the host.

When we came back to our room the beds were not made together but there was a bottle of champagne and two hearts out of rose petals “one on each separate bed” that were arranged by house keeping. Very thoughtful, but also kind of weird as we had two twin beds each with a heart on them 🤣

The next morning on our day two we decided to give the breakfast a try downstairs. We opted to try the al acarte menu versus the buffet. My wife ordered French toast and I ordered eggs benedict. My eggs were delicious. They showed up first and 25 minutes after my meal arrived, the French toast arrived. The waitress apologized and blamed the elevator that the food comes up on. The French toast was delicious but was not worth the 45 minute wait from us ordering it. And we didn’t get to eat our meals together.

The last night as we were getting ready to head to bed I called down to the front desk around 9:30pm. I asked them to send up bottled water to the room. They assured me it was coming up. The water never arrived.

I do want to mention, the turn downs were 5 star though! Never before has someone wrapped up an iPhone cord with a Velcro strap to make it look neater next to the bedside

This hotel has the look and feel of 5 stars but the execution isn’t there all around. The overall experience felt very disjointed and not what we were expecting given the other reviews. Some parts were top notch like check in and daily cleaning, but other areas were complete let downs. We would probably try somewhere else on our next...

we had the great privilege of taking a family trip of 5 people to Luzern Fri May 9- Monday May 12, 2025. This was for everyone a first time to Luzern. I had booked 2 rooms (superior and a lake view terrace suite). I was incredibly gtareful that we were upgraded X many levels to a lake view terrace suite + a lake view tower suite). At the front desk we met Nicolo. My German is not very good (definitely out of practice but I love languages and wanted to try and speak German) Nicolo was super kind to listen. I learned that he himeself speaks 4 languages and appreciated my effort. He later bought me a pocket sized Langenscheidt pocket Swiss German to German dictionary to encourage me. he brought us to our rooms and we were all just so impressed with him - just warm and genuine and you could tell that he really wanted us to enjoy both the hotel and the city. we saw him multiple times during our stay and he always stopped by to talk with us. My mother was so impressed with Nicolo that she asked for a picture with him- he very kindly understanding and accommodating. I am sure this is how he treats all guests. the Mandarin is truly fortunate to have such an ambassador! the hotel and the rooms are absolutely glorious and so beautifully appointed. Therepresentative colors (teal) of Mandarin Luzern are just so peaceful and striking . the views from the terrace are just what I had imagined. really a special experience and worth the price. we took advantage of the best breakfast buffet among any of the incredible MO's that we have been so fortunate to visit. delicious fresh bread and pastries (the vanilla infused Madeleines were so delicious and pillowsy soft. If I could buy some to take home I would have done that) plus a hot food station. I wish I got the names of everyone in the MOZERN with whom we interacted but thanks to Nicola) I had booked the Mother's day brunch on Sunday May 10 at 12 pm but I: a) hadnt realized that the breakfast buffet was so amazing and b) I had booked untimed tickets to ride the gondola at Mt Pilatus that day. we would have had to have rushed back. the brunch was non refundable and this was clearly stated in the email. My sister had talked with Johannes who very graciously appreciated the close timing. he wasnted to make sure that we had the best time on Mt Pilatus so he worked with us to cancel our brunch appointment (i just got confirmation of the refund) Johannes didnt have to do this. thank you Johannes! The concierge Matthias provided us with some great suggestions for some treats to bring back with us. Stephanie helped us with checkout and she was also incredibly efficient and helpful. the MO Luzern is a special property for many reasons. the staff at the MO however is the star which is saying something. Thank you again. we hope to...
