This hotel has rooms that offer the most amazing views of the Matterhorn but you will need to specifically select this option when booking. My friend and I did this, and we were able to view the Matterhorn just as the sun was setting and rising against the mountain - there's nothing like it! There's a balcony that wraps around each level, where you can sit outside and enjoy the view. This view you're afforded does mean the hotel is not as 'central' as other hotels in Zermatt, but the town is very walkable since it is so small and the hotel location means you get a good night's sleep. Zermatt is car free, but plenty of electric taxis are available. Breakfast is a good spread of juices, cereals, breads, some hot food (like bacon, scrambled eggs) and there's also a nice selection of cold cuts and cheeses. The hotel does offer a spa service that needs to be booked an hour beforehand. The cleaning staff are really lovely. My only complaint is the shuttle service the hotel offered could have been better explained - we were told about a day before arrival that we'd have to call the front desk when our train pulled into the station and we'd be picked up, but neither me or my friend had call minutes on our temporary Switzerland phone sim. We only found out on our last day in Zermatt that there is actually a phone at the train station specifically so that visitors can call their hotels for pick up. We checked out the same time as another couple and once we were done, reception didn't ask us whether we wanted a lift to the station (if you're checking out of your hotel, you're going to the train station, there is no other option); she just said, "great, everything is done, thank you!" and while we were walking to the station, we saw the hotel shuttle zoom past us, with the couple inside and plenty of room where my friend and I could've sat. We were surprised we weren't asked or told shuttling us to the station was an option, but as I mentioned before, the town is small and luggage friendly, so...
Read moreWhat a lovely hotel, we arrived at Zermatt station on Sunday 4 February, and was collected by Annett owner of the Hotel, in an electric buggy as Zermatt is car free. The hotel is about a five minute walk from the town centre, and is in a great location. On arrival at the hotel we were offered a glass of prosecco in the reception\ bar area. The lounge area is very cosy with a lovely open fire. Our room had an amazing view of the Matterhorn, we did book a Matterhorn view room in advance. The room had everything you require, and was lovely and comfy. The balcony had chairs with throws so you could sit and take in the view of the Matterhorn. Breakfast was really nice with a large selection of hot and cold food, everything you could want. Hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful. We would love to go back there again. So glad we chose this hotel as it made our stay in Zermatt perfect. We Would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone going to Zermatt, you...
Read moreLovely hotel in Zermatt located a few minutes walk from the main tourist street. Rooms were spacious and we were lucky to share a balcony with friends that had a view of the Mattehorn. Reception staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful - gave us tips for things to do as well as restaurant recommendations and made a reservation for us at a neighborhood restaurant. Recommend booking your room via the hotel website to ensure you get free shuttle service from the train station - it's not a huge walk but easier than navigating the tourist street with suitcases and the street does have a bit of an incline. You just need to email the hotel in advance and give them a call once you arrive - there is a public phone for doing so at the train station. Don't bother with paying for the hotel breakfast - it's fine, but not worth 25 francs - better off walking 3 minutes to the bakery or grocery store. Other than that, loved it, would...
