I've dined at my fair share of Michelin restaurants around the world, and I'm bewildered as to how Le Gitan Grill managed to secure its 1 Michelin star. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the host who took our jackets and allowed us to choose our seats. The initial impression was promising. However, things took a nosedive when the older male waiter seemed annoyed when we declined still or sparkling water, opting for wine instead. From there, it was a series of disappointments. We asked about the meat's origin and cut, but the waiter gave mixed-up responses. He rushed us through ordering, even snatching away our menus without checking if we were finished. The food had its moments. The deer carpaccio was enjoyable, but the lamb was overseasoned and disappointingly small. The beef fillet had a decent smoky flavor but was far from mind-blowing. Service was equally lackluster. My partner was done with their meal, but the waiter tried to clear our plates, and I had to remind him I was still eating. We skipped dessert as nothing sounded appealing. When we asked for the bill, the waiter's behavior was inexplicably rude. He roughly snatched the menus, dropped the receipt, and walked away without a word, not even a “thank you”. This experience was far from what I expected from a Michelin-starred restaurant.

During our recent trip to Zermatt, we had the pleasure of dining at Le Gitan eatery, and it was a great experience. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish crafted to perfection. The cheese fondue, made with local cheeses, was a highlight, offering a rich and creamy taste that we thoroughly enjoyed. The burrata appetizer was uniquely prepared and incredibly flavorful. Service by Gonçalo was excellent; he went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dining experience. The mountain weather was refreshing and pleasant, allowing us to sit outside. As the evening grew late and cooler, Gonçalo thoughtfully provided a blanket to keep us warm, adding a cozy touch to our meal. We also tried a local red wine that was an absolute hit, complementing our dishes perfectly. The main courses were outstanding—each item, from the pasta with lobster tail to the pork, chicken, and fish, was freshly prepared and bursting with flavor. Le Gitan is a little gem in the heart of Zermatt, offering exceptional food and top-notch service. It’s easy to miss as it is so small, but we highly recommend it for a delightful dining experience.

TL:DR. The food is great, and an easy recommendation to stop by and eat! I came here for dinner. They seems to have the restaurant sectioned off depending on what kind of food you want. Grilled on one side, fondue in another. The waiter was pretty helpful in wine choices, and placed in my food order pretty quickly as well. I was sat in front of the fire pit area, so it was very entertaining seeing the food being made as it comes along with both mine, and everyone else's. The food tasted great, and from looking at everyone else's plate, i don't think you can make a bad choice with the options they have! Dessert was also good. Overall a fine experience. The food can get a bit pricey, but the taste does reflect it! Well worth it.

This charming restaurant has managed to strike the perfect balance between an incredible selection of local cuisine and drink, coupled with exceptional service, all set within the breathtaking and picturesque Zermatt.

From the moment we entered, the atmosphere exuded warmth and hospitality. The interior was cozy and inviting, with a rustic layout that added to the overall charm of the place. It was clear that attention to detail was a priority at Le Gitan Grill, from the handling of jackets at the entrance to the open grill set in a traditional and original fireplace.

The food was undeniably the star of the evening. The portions were generous, and satisfying. Every item on the plate was cooked to perfection, a testament to the resident skill and dedication to the establishment and its clients.

The service was exceptional, as the attentive and friendly staff went above and beyond to ensure glasses were full and food met expectations.

Their professionalism and genuine warmth in conjunction with the fantastic decor made this a fantastic experience.

Le Gitan Grill is a must-visit for anyone in Zermatt seeking a memorable dining experience. With its mouthwatering cuisine, and unparalleled service.

I cannot recommend Le Gitan Grill enough and eagerly anticipate...
